  • Yes! I love movies like that. When it makes you think "How are the logistics behind this film's production even possible?"

  • Man I keep forgetting it's those guys. Yes, The Endless and Resolution are amazing sci-fi. Another in a similar vein, albeit different creators, is Coherence. Best to go in blind on that one too.

  • The powdery rice cakes with the red bean paste in the middle. Yum. Oh how could I forget Chajangmyun! Although that's Chinese originally. Is that the same black beans as in the rice?

  • OMG, I completely forgot about that. We never ate it at home, but when I visited family in Korea, we had it every meal. Never cared for it.

Oh and I just remembered red bean paste, love that stuff.

  • Ooh that sounds so good. I'm Korean and I don't think we know what beans are outside of soy beans lol

  • Lol, There was a Louis CK bit years ago where he talked about coming across an outdoor market and a bucket of duck vaginas and he had the same sentiment.

  • You take all of a sheep's organs, and put them in it's own stomach, and boil it.

If that doesn't make you hungry, I dunno what will.

  • Not familiar with English/Scottish breakfast I take it. Wait til you hear about beans on toast.

  • Oh I'm sure. I just hate to lose a talent like Jonathan Majors. But if it needs to be, so be it.

  • For me, it was just too goofy in a lot of it. It was obvious the Rick and Morty guys had a hand in it. It was just too much at times. And also Kang vs Ant-Man should be a slaughter. Didn't really make sense how easily he was defeated. And a lot of the 'rules' of shrinking/growing were thrown out the window, but that had been happening prior to this movie. Mostly, I found it very forgettable and not a good intro to the supposed "big bad" of this next phase of the MCU.

  • Jonathan Majors was great here. I really hope things work out with his case and it's proven he is innocent. He's such a good actor and commands the room when he speaks. His presence will be missed if he ends up having to exit the MCU.

  • Lol, it was worse than both of those for me. They at least had a mostly coherent story. This felt so muddled and all over the place, like AI wrote it. Oh and I forgot to mention the cinematography. The fight scenes looked incredibly choreographed to me. Like I noticed people standing still waiting to get hit and the heroes running to their marks and then taking action. Also why was the camera right in everyone's face during the fights all the time?

I dunno, it just didn't work at all for me. I don't begrudge anyone for liking it, but I felt like I was watching a movie, if that makes sense. Like I wasn't swept in at all. Just reminded I was watching a movie constantly.

  • I don't know where any of the positive reviews are coming from. It was awful. Not even for a MCU movie, it was a bad movie, period. Everything is so disjointed and all over the place. There's no explanation for things that need explanations and they over-explain things that are obvious. The villain, while having some motivation, was just weak and forgettable.

Brie Larson was in and out. Sometimes she was decent, but a lot of times felt like she was reading off cue cards. Teyonah Parris was OK, but she's terrible at fight choreography. She kept running up and getting in position constantly and just looked off. Sam Jackson was a clown. I mean I don't think he had a single line that wasn't a joke. I don't even get his characterization at all. Iman Vellani was the best thing about this film. She was a delight every time she was on screen and I love how she's the new 'Fury' in recruiting the YA team. Glad to see references to the other members finally.

The whole singing planet was just...IDK. The flerkin stuff was OK but I felt wore out its welcome, especially the end there. But the mid credits scene was interesting. Beast looked kinda weird, but he seems to be a completely CGI character and not Kelsey Grammar, despite using his voice. So I wonder if the X-Men are only in that universe. It would give an explanation why we haven't seen any mutants up until recently.

I'm still in as a long time Marvel fan, but wow, this movie was a mess.

  • Yeah, I find I'm on the same page as Dan a lot of the time and this is very disappointing.

  • Not looking good, ugh.

  • I always find it hilarious when certain lines in media break into the zeitgeist. There's tons that come and go but some just last forever. I still hear "Bye, Felicia" all the time. Also, anytime the name "Jeff" is mentioned.

  • Just wanted to give some praise to "Net and Yahoo". Lmao

  • I forget who, but someone made a scheduler webapp: https://schedule.lemmings.world. Don't mind the url, it works on any instance. Works really well usually. I use it to make discussion posts here and on !movies. This is the first time it's made multiple posts like that. So I'll keep an eye on it.

Probably no credence to this "rumor" at all but curious what Lemmy thinks about this fantasy casting.
