Laptop is fine as a tinkering device, but if you have something critical it's best not to trust a rolling release. I would recommend Fedora Silverblue or something else immutable that automatically updates and does not have a lot of incompatibility issues.
Arch is not something to be relying on consistently. You can make it stable, but then one day you will do a yay -Syu and all of a sudden your critical machine is offline pending troubleshooting that is not required with more stable distros.
EOS is the best out of the box Arch experience I've had, it makes it a lot more user friendly than just the base, and it can be customized just as much as the base. When I was running Arch I was running EOS and it was good for what I needed, although I have had it basically brick itself with an update. I am currently running Fedora Silverblue on my laptop and it's been very stable.
Yeah it's not fun being a stealth archer/sniper in Starfield. I got an Orion and it was good for a while but at a certain point everything becomes a massive bullet sponge and it's just annoying.
They do not get props for trying to recycle their engine for the 100th time, because Creation sucked when they used it for Oblivion and it sucked when they upgraded it for Skyrim and it continued to suck through Fallout 4 into Fallout 76 and is very clearly not an engine designed to support a large game in space. Same bugs all the way through like five consecutive games.
Starfield was the least rocky release probably in Bethesda history in terms of bugs, but that's only because MS took literally the entire QA team from Xbox and assigned them to Starfield and brute forced a lot of the initial bugs out of the launch. A good engine doesn't need an entire megacorp's fucking quality assurance department to get ironed out.
Ultimately it feels like the same engine, despite having been improved to 64 bit for SKSE, upgraded even further for FO4, and then slapped with netcode for FO76 - it's still not good. It's unbelievable that we can have games with life-scale cities and zero loading screens, while Bethesda still needed to cut Neon in half and instance basically everything behind a billion loading screens. Even Jemison is like, 4 separate zones and not just one whole city.
The Deck is incredible, and if I didn't get the ROG two weeks before the OLED was announced, I would have probably gotten the OLED and eaten the loss of my Game Pass games.
This has been a consistent thing for like a decade now though. It's super clear that the Russians have been obviously influencing all manner of conservative governments across the planet.
Just take money out of politics entirely. Nobody should have PACS or donations or anything. You campaign on your ideals and not on flashy advertisements.
Personally I like my ROG Ally because with NTFS file system I can run all of my games, including the ones on my Xbox game pass, which is not something I can currently do with Linux-based handhelds.
That being said, I spent literally like three hours decluttering the OS because it ships with a stock Windows 11 which is full of bloat and bullshit. Spent a while with Win10privacy disabling/uninstalling all the useless crap. Why does my game console have Teams? Why does my enterprise computer have the Xbox app? Stupidity all around.
If Chimaera had better support for the ROG I'd look into dual booting, and with the chip being AMD, I have full confidence that eventually I can probably put Linux on that handheld and it will run better and last longer than it does with Windows, because of all the optimizations written into SteamOS being forked for other projects. Right now, there are some things that don't work with Chimaera on other handhelds. I think there's some gimmicky hacks I need to implement for the ROG for baseline things like speaker audio and bluetooth support.
We will see how much support Microsoft provides for their handhelds long-term, in terms of optimizing the OS. So far, they've done fuck all though. SteamOS gets better performance patch after patch.
I am on a few private trackers but they don't offer anything that the public trackers don't already have covered for my use case, outside of porn.
I am more of a DDL pirate anyways. I have a seedbox for torrents but I tend to stick to mega links, even if there is a slight delay in getting the media. Typically what I find is that all the re-encoded high resolution h265 content comes later and is more abundant on the mega link forums than on trackers; most trackers will have h264 copies at 720/1080, but they're often larger than the h265 high resolution re-encodes.
You can buy a copy of Pro on a key reseller for like 20 bucks, I would highly recommend doing so.
Remmina should cover your use cases, as it has options for many protocols including RDP. I use Remmina on my Linux machines and all my Windows machines just use RDP since they are all pro.
Remmina, since it's using RDP, should be able to connect with no monitor.
I guess I didn't know yay by itself as a command was an alias for pacman -Syu, guess I've just always been redundantly using -Syu.
