  • A friend of mine with inattentive ADHD liked Vyvanse when he was on it

  • well, he has literally been an alcoholic for decades and at this point had heart issues and Wernicke encephalopathy, he was literally not all there anymore.

Also as others have said, your personal experience is just that, your personal experience. It doesn't apply to everyone. His story is an unfortunate one, and it's clear that before he succumbed to his disease that lead to more illness he was an awesome, fun loving, inclusive dude.

  • I would make sure those bolts you put back in are torqued to spec or that alternator could come loose in the future

  • Club Dread

    Jump
  • Ok but that song is worse

  • He's been an alcoholic for awhile, I he was doing good and then his son died and he fell off the wagon a few years later, I don't really think he's been in the right state of mind since

  • I've been running with just an optional dns adguard url in my settings, this app is exactly what I've been looking for. So tired of having to go into my settings and pause the adguard just to click on a link that happens to be an ad that I'm actually interested in.

  • Yeah but Chromebooks suck, apple is making computers that aren't just for web browsing

  • This is actually happening with certain things that are patented or prohibitively expensive. I.E. insulin. A LOT of more efficient eco-friendly tech has just not been adopted because it's patented and it wouldn't be cost effective for companies to switch in our profit driven capitalist hellscape.

  • I'm not being childish, you're being ridiculous. This is a library, this is a concept that already exists. You're thinking too profit oriented, not everything has to be for profit. This is so that people have access to these things now and for generations to come. Copyright laws compromising the internet archive will mean loss of data over the next few generations. There is already so much lost media from the internet era, and so little is being done about it, aside from the awesome efforts of the internet archive.

This isn't about profits this is about preserving data from our era.

There's more to this argument but it's already been said in this thread and I don't feel like typing it out, and I doubt you'd change your mind anyway.

  • I'm a dev, and on occasion I like to contribute to FOSS apps. That backfired on you didn't it?

  • You realize this is about books right? This is about free and easy access to books. Like a digital library. Don't be ridiculous.

  • I think we need to start caring about how laws affect the preservation of data, this is ridiculous.

  • Oh cool, thanks!

  • Yes, you are misinterpreting my intent, what you're saying is exactly my point. Wealthier people have more access to education on these topics because it's usually not free, additionally usually someone of low income who is a parent will also not have that knowledge to give their children

Literally I'm saying the exact opposite of what you're assuming, if they don't get the proper help then they can't help themselves, sometimes

  • Added ability to browse all instances on communities on an instance

I am confused as to what this means, can you elaborate?

  • Sometimes that irresponsibility is a systemic issue. Low income home life leads to lack of education, drug addiction, crime, etc.

Some people wouldn't know what to do with money even if they had it.
