  • Autocorrect.....you've screwed me again.

  • Corporate needs you to fond the differences in these 2 pictures.

  • I wonder what passport people like you hold? This sounds like passport privilege. Those with "good" passports get to travel where they want without a thought.

There are many countries where they scrutinise where you're going to be staying and how you're going to pay. You can't apply for any visa without giving proof of accommodation bookings and showing bank statements.

I've been to America before Trump and there were plenty of questions at the border about where I was going and to see my confirmed hotel bookings, and I went with a "good" passport (UK) at the Canadian border.

  • I agree with your comment....except for the part about a small learning curve. The learning curve is steep and difficult. You've got to be willing to jump in as an enthusiast and not a casual user. This is not the choice for the vast majority of normies (as you rightly conclude). The saving grace for Linux will be pre-installed systems with extremely polished UI's (like the Steam Deck).

I'm highly motivated to stay on Linux, but there's still a list of open issues for me (this is a year and a half after adoption....I'm just living with these limitations now, and there are a couple more I've added to my list of unsolvable problems since).

  • As amusing as this story is, I'd like to point out for those not from UK: the Daily Mail is worth less than used toilet paper and it is likely that this story is distorted and exaggerated to the point of fiction. This rag thrives on their outrageous stories being circulated like this on social media.

  • Excellent choice. I did the same last year. I'm still on Tumbleweed.

  • AI won't reverse enshitification, but it is one solution in this sense:

The internet is too far gone. It's all bots and advertising and disinformation and exploitation and data harvesting. People still seem to trust content on the internet for some reason. AI will sort that out by making the internet so unreliable, people will have to distrust it to the extent they should.

  • I really hate that I can't get a lie in on the weekend. Kids wake up and my brain wakes up. I'll have to start going to bed earlier....which I hate. I want to stay up and play video games and wake up late. But I guess I'm becoming an old man and need to embrace the old man life.

  • My body has started doing this and I hate it.

  • My younger one (4) gets scared by Bowser and comes to me. I have to do the same stages over and over for him. But he's getting better.

The older one (6 now) finished Super Hexagon (all stages) and Ori to 100% completion at the age of 4. He used to ask for help with the last stage of Super Hexagon..... That was way beyond my abilities. Really need to get this kid onto Street Fighter to male use of these skills.

  • You know you shouldn't joke about these things. These are very serious matters. You're very lucky and privileged, but some people really struggle. We've tried our best to provide you with everything and give you a comfortable life, but don't forget how hard others have it. You don't appreciate all this or appreciate us. We still need to talk about your grades by the way.

  • I was late to the party. The only acronym I ever used was SC2.

  • This is about the best answer that can be expected for such a vague plea for help.

I've done the video game addiction thing myself. Path of Exile.....the game was good. Using it for unhealthy coping was not good.

Basically I would agree. The only thing you can change is yourself. Work on yourself. Dodge the second arrow.

  • I haven't tried yet. I think there are videos on YouTube showing Moonlight working well. Don't know about other apps. I've installed Steam Link expecting that WiFi 6 should give a good streaming experience.

  • I haven't tried Winlator myself.

Less demanding Switch games work fine. The Retroid Pocket 5 would have better performance and there are videos on youtube with game demonstrations to see performance.

  • Android tablet with built-in controller?

    Yes

Does it run (x64) PC games

There's Winlator, but you've gotta manage your expectations for the performance you expect for PC games.

    (arm) Android games and emulators

    Primarily this

  • Lemmy is fragmented and I don't know if posts get visitbility across communities. It seems Lemmy.world gets more engagement and that should be the primary place to post. It's a shame that cross posts don't bring everyone to the same commenting area to engage with each other.

  • PSP had so many great games. I've got China Town Wars, Rock Band, Wipeout Pure, Patapon, Mercury Meltdown, Final Fantasy Tactics......and really wish I had the time to get to all of these.
