This response by BraveSirZaphod really resonates with me, Israeli secular Jew of Russian descent.

Wouldn't that necessitate help of army? If the police can't control the situation in 24 hours, they should bring in several hundred/thousands soldiers and start house to house search of the whole area...

I'm not sure myself, if this elderly couple is on good terms with some Gazan families, AND those could put a good word for them, it would make sense to release both women AND their elderly husbands...

On the other hand, if Hamas suspected they won't survive the captivity for much longer, they're of limited value as actual hostages, and their release will allow Hamas to score some sympathy points.

Same here. I think censorship is bad - but looks like Google really want to distance themselves from anything Hamas related, and even Telegram bosses who didn't bend for Russian government pressure (couple of years ago there was an attempt to control or block Telegram there) prefer to stay away from it...

The fact they're primed and sent towards regular Israeli cities - shows that the intent is to kill as many people as possible. The fact that Israeli civilian death count is much lower is only due to superior air alert and defense systems, otherwise the numbers would be much higher.

Note that Israel do arrest, judge and sentence the terror group members when it is possible to do so, like in Israeli villages or in the West bank. But since Gaza is a self managing autonomous entity - this is not possible (without great risk to involved officers).
