I have returned from the Lightscape thing. I haven't walked that far or up so many hills for... way too long. I am very sore.
Event was a nice family-friendly affair where we're shuffled through the gardens like cattle. Some of it was kinda meh but other bits had really cool effects. Pretty great food and drink options. Not as blatantly expensive as it could have been for that stuff. I was there with my sister, bro in law and niece.
Pretty pricey tickets though. A little cheaper on a weeknight.
Totally agree. I can imagine there's like 15 people who'd be like "oh yeah my dad used to work in that tower I think" who might have the slightest nostalgia for it. If it was the tower which welcomed in the first ships to Melbourne or something I'd be better with it but it's just a piece of industry from 57 years ago which happens to be tall.
I have photographic evidence of possibly the exact moment when my brain flipped from being interested in ninja turtles to being interested in ladies.
This is me and a 24 or 25 (I think) year old Kylie Minogue at my dad's work xmas party one year. Judging by my style/pudgy face I'm going to say it was around 1993 or 1994. I hadn't seen this photo in decades but my mum sent it to me over the weekend.
Too late for my jet leg method which is changing your sleeping pattern to Melbourne time a day before leaving/continuing where possible on the plane :(
How much is hosting? I'd be happy to chip in and pay for a month or a percentage of the year or whatever. Sometimes I wonder about hosting charges when I upload images.
Coming away was the right choice. Just pulled $1000 profit out of the club.
Motel was $160 and this trip uses about half a tank of fuel so let's call it a $790 winner. I've got enough points on my RSL member card to get a big free breakfast tomorrow.
I was very against them and bought steel straws to carry around but now I can tolerate them with my iced coffee on the road.
I do still have a stash of plastic ones I brought home from America last year in my pantry. I haven't thought to use any yet (don't use straws at home).
Hungry Jack's soft drinks now have a cool flippy spout thing on their plastic lids so you don't need a straw and I wish everyone had them.
Edit: after writing this I tried to drink from my can while laying down and spilt it all over my beard. Luckily I have a steel straw with a bend in my travel cutlery kit!
Aaaand I changed my mind again and I'm now at a resort in NSW which looks suspiciously like a motel. Nice though. Has Foxtel so I've got the NRL on and a nice cold beverage.
I have ugg slippers which I'm currently rocking. I like them because they keep my toesies warm but the back half of my foot is exposed so my feet don't get too hot or sweaty. I don't mind chilly ankles.
I have reconsidered and decided it wouldn't be the best decision to go out this weekend. I can't imagine being well enough by tomorrow. At least the new season of The Boys dropped today and there is plenty of NRL to watch over the weekend.
I guess for now there's only 1 thing to do... 420 blaze it.
Considering banking on this cold being shaken off by tomorrow and booking a room up on the border. Saw that one of the clubs up there has a Boobs tribute act (Michael Bublé) and I'm right into that scene. They actually have a Crooners of the 50s, 60s and 70s Variety show tonight which I would have liked. Will give me another 6.5 hours or so of audiobook time in the car too.
I gotta say.. as someone who often feels like an outsider it's kind of nice that everyone else is sick when I am too. I feel like I'm a part of something.
Still stuffy and gross. Worked up a sweat just loading the dishwasher and taking the garbage to the chute! I'm working today though for the first time this week at least.
