  • I just dreamt about the end of the world. It was really cinematic and had a cast of characters, none of them me but at times I was each of the characters. It had a series of time jumps and stories playing out about their lives before the finale which was in the future where there were millions of satellites in the night's sky. They were all different colours and shapes and clusters and zipped by closer than felt comfortable. Then they'd found a way to project a reflection of the earth in the sky so you could see all of the countries, and did a presentation on them which felt like a "thank you for your time here on earth, humans" where they showcased humanity over the years from every walk of life. It was all very impressive but it also felt very “big corporation” which felt fitting for where we’re headed.

Then during a random moment of conversation with one of the aged characters, one of the only remaining original ones who hadn't died off, the waves came. The first was large enough to know it was about to be the end. Then right after it the character was floating and could see the second world ender coming, gasped and then lights out and I woke up.

I haven't even talked about the story of her life or her late husband's life which was its own thing. There was sadness, redemption, fame, failure, regret and wrestling. And randomly, a pool of hippos which was under their huge warehouse where they lived. You could get to it from under their bed. Weird.

Anyway I just kinda wanted to journal this because it was kind of epic. It even had side characters who felt like they had their own journies over the time jumps, or had their own troubles which were suddenly gone and seemed trivial but also not trivial at the time, but were just the past after the time jumps and those characters had passed.

  • God damn it.. I'm actually liking using the iPhone. This is unacceptable.

Turns out they've come a long way in the 11 years since I used one. Face ID for auth inside apps (not just for unlocking the phone) is a game changer. Plus app devs have clearly put just a little more love into iOS apps then their Android counterparts. It's nothing major, just little things but they're noticeable. I also love the haptics. The screen and sound seem better too.

My 2 annoyances so far are that it's a regular iPhone 15 which feels a bit small in my bear-paw and I fumble with it and CarPlay (which does look excellent in my car) doesn't have the ability to have media controls on the screen at the same time as full screen Waze like Android Auto does. Having both on the screen at the same time uses way too much screen to show the media controls but that might because my screen is portrait rather than landscape. Probably looks fine in landscape on those wide screens you get in new cars.

Anyway ffs I wasn't supposed to almost prefer it over my Android phone.

  • Spoiler-free but hidden behind a spoiler tag anyway Deadpool & Wolverine review: ::: spoiler spoiler as a fan consider me thoroughly, deeply, tenderly but not too tenderly, always with hard eye-contact serviced. :::

  • Seeing Deadpool & Wolverine tonight in the first preview screening woooo letsgoooooooooooo

I've avoided all trailers since the first teaser so I'm looking forward to being surprised

  • In the office today. Nothing exciting going on. I do have a test iPhone 15 I'm considering trying out (moving my personal sim over to it) but I'm so embedded into the Android/Google ecosystem that I don't know if I can be bothered. Plus it'd render my smartwatch somewhat useless, at least while I use the iPhone which wouldn't be permanent.

I will likely change my mind in the next 15-20 minutes and just do it. I'm a wildcard.

  • Heading home today from my house and dog sitting duties. I thought I was going to be back in a few months for longer but it seems like my parents are going to cancel their upcoming Vegas trip.

This does open the door of possibility for me... I could go somewhere. I shall ponder. Ponder I shall.

  • All done with my meetings for today. Sadly there has been a casualty though as I somehow tore a big hole in one of my pairs of Melbourne Storm bamboo cotton boxers. Not where you'd think either.. it's almost up near my left hip. Anyways RIP boxers, you touched me in tender places and held me close.

  • Stupid friggin tv show I'm watching rang a Ring doorbell and the dog went nuts because my parents have one on the front door

  • I used that Google security function recently which goes off to see where you're mentioned and it happily said nowhere. I have a blog out there with numerous photos of my face on it but there's nothing linking my full name to it. I just Googled my name and found my Facebook profile though. This was using my shortened name which I generally use. Searching with my full name has nothing I can see. Weird.. my Google account uses my name to post Google reviews and I've done a couple but they didn't show up in a search.

Anyways.. feeling pretty ok about my online presence. I know all of my email addresses have been compromised but there isn't much I can do about that besides keep good MFA security and spam filters on those.

  • There is a way to lock it but then Vegas can't let himself in and out to do his business. He's not used to not being able to so it wouldn't go well.

  • A cat keeps coming up to the side door at my parents place. The door with the doggy door. I wonder if it'd come in if Vegas and I weren't nearby/paying attention. What's to stop cats, rats, possums, small children, etc from just coming inside while we sleep? It bothers me.

  • You know how sometimes when you're hungry you can open your mouth and saliva fires out from your salivary glands under your tongue like a friggin venom spitting snake? Usually happens at the worst times and a loved one might catch a stray. I might be nuts but I think I can do that on command. Is that normal?

  • Was just shaving and noticed a HAIR protruding from one of my nostrils! NOOOOOO I'M NOT OLD YET!!

Yanked that mofo out of there. Now for some sweet sweet denial.

  • It's insane to me that there isn't an age cutoff of the standard retirement age for the highest-level job in the country.

If the party steps him down now, it'd be the responsible thing to do but it'd show weakness and go back on everything they've been saying (that he's fine) and they seem too arrogant to do that. Plus the fickle media/voters would probably label the party as unstable (which maybe they are) and lose them the election.

If they leave him on and he dies soon, the party looks stupid for not standing him down sooner and if he dies after winning there would be a lot of talk about the intention of getting the VP in as president without people voting for them.. another issue with their entire system of voting for the "president" and not the party/policies.

If they leave him on and he keeps kicking and wins, you'd have to trust that serious people are actually running the country and he's just rolled out to flub through speeches and shake some hands. If he loses then they have 4 more years of a cartoon-supervillain president assuming he lives through them.

I don't see a way back for the USA from the crips vs bloods level of division their people are in plus their need to make politics into entertainment. The hero-worshipping of their politicians is baffling to me. They're politicians!

  • Just found salt and pepper in my parents pantry with best before dates of 2015.

  • Breakfast burrito is my love language. Except for when places feel like they have to be too fancy and start throwing spinach in them.
