  • I cannot win. Yesterday I went down to the docs to get my blood tested to see how tasty it is, only to be told that they're at capacity for the day (11am) and come back another day.

Today I go in, take a number and get called in only to be told that I've OVER FASTED by an hour or so. I had no idea you could over fast for a blood test. Apparently the sweet spot is between 8 and 12 hours of fasting and I was on hour 15. The lab generally doesn't do tests over 14 hours.

And today is my last day in Melton so I'm going to have to come back another time, which isn't so bad because I can come visit my family. I wasn't going to see the doc again to get results for a month so I'll just do it on one of the weekends coming up I guess.

Annoying because I psyched myself up for the needle.. twice.. I am historically not great with needles/having blood drawn.

  • There's an ice cream/lolly shop here called Cones & Candy and that is the most Melton thing ever. No pretence of it being anything but a blatant euphemism for recreational drugs. The Birdcage (the part of Melton the shop is) knows what it is, and it isn't hiding it.

  • lol I think nearly all of us can relate to that

Hell I don't even need to go that far back...

  • The one in Altona North shut its doors the day the news came out about them going into administration but yeah Melton is still open as well as 4 others

  • I had it in my head that all of the Victorian Carl's Jr location closed immediately a few weeks ago but apparently only a couple of locations closed and Melton remains alive.

Got breakfast from there for one last time because I didn't think I'd get to again. It was meh. It can die now.

  • Not sure exactly when it was but that sounds about right. Tiger King and Wordle seem about the same vintage.

  • I hadn't been back to see the replies until now but this trip is a week at my parents housesitting so most of the electronics are for work. I have my personal laptop for personal stuff/gaming, work MacBook pro which I'm using now, work iPad, work windows laptop which I'm configuring as a Cloud PC kiosk device. Each of these serve different functions I'm testing. I probably could have left the iPad at home to be honest but it doesn't take up much room so I threw it in in case someone needed me to test something.

The shower was something I had in those 30-40 minutes not something I packed in my bag lol

My media streamer is an NVIDIA Shield Pro. I only brought it because my parents TV is too old for most streaming apps to work properly and now that I'm using the iPhone I can't stream to the Chromecast I gave them years ago.

If I'm going proper traveling none of the work stuff comes with me, or the monitor.

  • One thing I'm really quite good at is packing to go on a trip really quickly. I've got like 3 laptops, an ipad, a 27" monitor, a media streamer, PS5 controller and all manner of cables, my clothes and my CPAP machine all fitting snuggly into my trusty suitcase. Then I have my backpack of stuff and a tote with foodstuffs and my blender. All took maybe 30-40 minutes and there was a shower in there too.

  • I went to get a chicken burger from Red Rooster. They left me sitting at the drive thru window for ages after Iโ€™d ordered at the box. Eventually I saw one of the cooks walk up to the guy who was meant to come and see me, he had my burger in his hand and must have said โ€œcan I give this to the drive thru?โ€ or something and the guy said yes so he comes over and hands me the burger, says have a good night and closes the window. Notice that at no point had I paid.

I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s just because Iโ€™ve been playing too much cowboy video game but I just left with my burger. Peeled out of there like Iโ€™d pulled off a heist. So Iโ€™m officially an outlaw now. Life is rough on the other side of the law but it sure is excitinโ€™! Yeehaw!

  • Itโ€™s on like donkey kong here in Docklands itโ€™s friggin bonkers

  • Free coffees. But medium is the only value for points now, sadly. I'm actually maxed out on points so I really need to start redeeming some stuff.

  • Felt gross so I'm hydrating like a mofo today. I think maybe that was the issue.

No adventures for me this weekend either. Staying put and keeping it really low key. Trying not to get too much in my own head about things progressing. I'm scared but also excited. I've spent so much time on my own for way too long that I just hope I can come back from it without being a weirdo.. well, the weird kind of weirdo anyway I've always been a goofy weirdo.

  • This is the way. Also, to save the annoying ripping off of the right size of baking paper grab some liners

  • Lovely thanks! I'll swing by there on Monday and grab some to try out

  • I used cold brew instead of water in my vanilla manshake and it's not bad! If I post "help help" in about 30 minutes then I'm having a little bit of a heart attack so please send help.

  • Off to the dentist soon for my biannual clean. I should probably look for a closer dentist than Bacchus Marsh but I do enjoy a drive so c'est la vie.

Meanwhile, blending meal replacement shakes with a bit of ice is a revelation. I've ordered some recommended ones online but to fill the gap until they get here I got some vanilla manshake and a tin of milo from the shops last night because it's a great mix.

  • The only requirement is "nothing too spicy", which isn't to say zero spice, just nothing hot.

Budget isn't an issue. The two things I have are money and time. I don't need to go overboard on cost though just for the sake of being fancy, she is very down to earth. It'll just be the two of us.
