  • Most people aren't working on a contract. And in the U.S. most states are at-will employment (something companies lobby heavily for) meaning you can be fired for any reason whatsoever, but is also means you can quit at any time you like in whatever manner suits you.

  • This was somewhat gutsy of the reporter to ask, but when Elmo dodged like that he should have said, "Well I guess that's the interview over. We'll just air this clip and get about 10 million views. Should pay for our time here nicely." And then left the Nazi prick to sit and stew in his own shit.

  • I blame the marketing for that movie not doing well. People went expecting a "wacky Jim Carrey flick" and what they got was a surreal and frightening thriller.

Eddie Murphy's "Holy Man" suffers that bad marketing issue as well. They plastered so many ads making it out to be a loony Eddie Murphy film and the movie itself is more of an uplifting drama about believing in one's self and not seeking external validation, with a few gags in it making fun of television shopping networks and the stupid shit people buy from them cause yeah, it's Eddie Murphy of course they're gonna have fun with it. But that's only like 1/3rd of the film.

  • Meanwhile, the town nearby is being decimated by these explosions. The environment around there is becoming a desolate wasteland and Musk was given license by Trump to gut the EPA and the FAA is being run by a sycophant who worships the ground Elmo walks on.

  • It's the recent "We all hate Plex now" because they implemented a price in regards to the way we access content remotely because it was costing them too much to maintain for free. So anything that smells even remotely like they are trying to make money is getting the shocked and dismayed reaction. Usually followed by a dozen or so people talking about how they've ditch Plex ages ago for a truly free platform like jellyfin/Kodi/etc.

  • The one we have is a Bosch and IMO it's the worst. If I had been in charge of replacing our old one I would have chosen something way better.

It's indicator for the cycle being done? A tiny beep that goes off like every 5 minutes or so for maybe an hour. Otherwise, the first person to open the door gets to see the clean dishes indicator light. After that it's anyone's guess. And the wash cycle is extremely quiet (this is actually a nice feature if it weren't for the fact that it's impossible to tell if it's in the middle of a cycle or fully done other than the afore mentioned faint intermittent beep).

Edit: oh, and all of the dishes are basically soaked when you open the thing. Especially if it's been done for a while and everything has cooled down. Happen to have a light bowl in the top shelf that got flipped during the wash cycle? Now you have a bowl of dishwater that will dump out onto everything below it unless your real careful taking it out. Every glass has a tiny bowl of water in the divit in their bottom. And all the silverware is covered in water droplets that will spray everywhere as you attempt to put them away.

  • I'm actually more pissed off that here in 2025 we haven't developed a dishwasher that has a blow dry cycle. Like, just have a small water tight door that flips open to reveal a fan that circulates warm air to dry the dishes.

But no, instead we have the dubious development of dishwashers that no longer have a cup for the prewash soap (which is still 100% necessary) because those stupid pods exist and on some models all the indicator lights have been relocated to the inside of the door where you can't see if the cycle is done unless you open the door which, if the dishwasher is still in the middle of washing, will disrupt the cycle.

  • That was Samsung doing the work of dumbing things down for you. Stock Android has always been fast and loose with the locality of saved files. Especially if you are doing anything with an image processing app. They tend to make their own dump folders and don't bother telling you that they e made them in their own directory under the .data folder or someplace in .bin
