  • Well the important thing here is that you learned your party needs to run better candidates if they want to win.

Well if its not your party why would we want your advice? It sounds like you are someone who has set themselves up to be a lifetime loser in politics who will never win and has never won.

  • And they put a 78 year old with esophageal cancer in charge.

Who the fuck are you talking about?

Hakeem Jeffries is 54 years old. He's in charge of the Democratic Caucus. Pelosi has been retired for years. She has no power. AOC lost by 50 votes. There is no way Pelosi caused that. She was only included in the headline as clickbait to troll people.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakeem_Jeffries

  • [Supporters viewed AOC’s bid as a chance to revitalize Democratic strategy, calling the outcome a missed opportunity for the party.]

While it would be great to see AOC win this, the reporter is really overstating things in order to drive engagement. The House Oversight Committee has a limited area of responsibility, so how would AOC "revitalize Democratic strategy" in any general way? Why can't AOC "revitalize Democratic strategy" in a general way without being head of this committee? Other Dems will either listen to her or they won't.

  • No, I have not talked to all 131 people who voted against AOC. But unfortunately she would have needed 50 more votes to win. There is no way Pelosi caused AOC to lose. She is not the Speaker and has no power anymore. But the person who wrote this article knew that by including the word "Pelosi", they could get more people to read the story.

I would advise people to find out how their own congressperson voted. And if they voted for the wrong person than call their office. You have just as much of a voice as Pelosi does.

  • The Democrats copied Republican talking points with COVID, Trans people, police brutality and funding, the border “crisis”

I don't remember any of that happening.

a non-white woman running on the platform of “Back to 2016 Trump’s America”.

Treason Trump gave rich people and corporations a gigantic tax cut and raised taxes people making under 75k. Kamala was going to raise taxes on corporations and lower taxes on the middle classes. Tax rates are the #1 thing everyone should be focusing on because wealth inequality is the driver of almost all other problems.

  • Pelosi is a fucking joke, and its insane that the democratic party bends over backwards to kiss the ass of a corpse that encapsulates all of their failings, rather than embrace young populists within the party.

Nobody cares what Pelosi thinks about anything. Nobody changed their vote because Pelosi called them. Her name was included in the title as a clickbait headline to troll people.

  • No one said a thing about taxes.

The politicians you were telling people not to vote for were the very same politicians stopping the GOP from increasing wealth inequality. Wealth inequality is the driver of all of our other problems.

  • There is no crime here. So there is no possibility of Cheney being charged with a crime, let alone convicted. This is a political stunt, like Biden's "impeachment inquery". Cheney is not worried that she could go to jail. She is legitimately mad about (1) the absurdity of it, and (2) she will have to waste her money on a lawyer.

The GOP is pretending that Treason Trump's enshitification has already happened and the rule of law in America is already destroyed, purely because Treason Trump is embarrassed that he was caught and convicted of actual real crimes. But the basic protections are still in place. (1) a judge will dismiss any case that has no actual legal grounds. (2) lawyers can be permanently disbarred from bringing cases with no actual legal grounds, and (3) no 12 person random jury would convict when there is no actual crime.

  • The party can legally just ignore primary votes and name anyone for any spot in the general.

In the same way that the US government can just ignore its own Constitution without violating any international laws.

  • . I would argue that the ethics of the economy have improved,

The Reagan era was a glorification of greed. Before then, CEOs were expected to care about all the stakeholders of a company. Not just stockholders but also customers and employees and the general community. A large amount of enshitification resulted from the glorification of greed era. For example, tuition at public universities went from very reasonable to absurdly expensive. Health care deductibles went from $250 to $6000. Anti-trust law stopped being enforced etc.

  • Yeah, we are gonna be mere “poll numbers” forever and nothing will be done.

Before the ACA passed, each and every time I brought up the need to change the system in online forums, somebody would tell me it will never happen. In those days there was no way to get insurance if you had preexisting conditions without working for a corporation.

  • I still remember when ACA happened. The smart people who wanted single payer or similar were shunned out the room

Because neither Obama nor Clinton campaigned in 2008 for single payer. And there was no margin to spare in getting the 60 senate votes needed (although they should have only need 50 no 60), and so Lieberman all by himself was able to kill the Public Option that most people would have used.

  • What did he do? Biden immediately gave away the public option as a show of good faith

Nope. We only lost the public option because of Joe Lieberman saying he wouldn't support it and we needed all 60 Dem senators to vote for it.
