  • Not gonna lie, when I worked help desk this shit wouldn't have even raised an eyebrow. When my shift started at 5am, we didn't give a fuck. So long as you answered the calls and helped the client, the shit you had at your desk didn't matter.

  • I'm still on the fence with Um, Actually being hosted by Iffy. It feels like a step back in the production quality. The thing with the cards in the wall for the shiny questions sucks, he doesn't feel like he has control over the guests, and instead of just doing the show half of them have been special episodes in some way.

  • I don't have many, I find home assistant is a tool in search of a need.

    • Run the robot vacuum when I leave the house.
    • When I arrive home or open the garage door after sunset, turns on the rear porch lights and then turns it off after 15 minutes. (I have a detached garage.)
    • Turn on select outdoor lights at sunset.
    • Turns off all outdoor lights at sunrise, so if I forget to turn off the lights around my deck they eventually do get turned off.
    • I have a button near where I sit in the living room that controls all four lights in the living room.
    • I have a button on my dashboard that just turns off all the lights in my house.
    • I have a button near my bar that turns on multiple lights and a neon sign. I was intending to add effects and scenes around the bar too so I could press another button and have a show go off.
  • I'd do the basics of paying off my house and doing some renovations on it. Or buy and move into a slightly bigger one in the same area. Maybe buy/rent a condo right next to Wrigley Field. Nothing fancy, but I would like to be able to stay near the park.

After I put most into safe investments I would have some fun.

I'd find some financial advisors and give each of them a million to invest for me. Then fire the one who performs the worst after a period of time. Then put that money to a new investor and repeat.

I'd buy a small warehouse to turn into an auto shop to house and work on the cars I buy. Which would be daily drivers, so things like a Miata and a classic mustang. The only fancy car I'd buy, and drive, is a Catterham. This would be my main hobby, so I don't consider it a waste of money. Repairing/restoring cars and selling them.

I'd set off on a road trip and love to be able to just see and experience everything without worrying about how much hotels, food, and gas cost. If it weren't for girlfriend and her daughter I'd consider even just living in a van for a while. Spend a year and go to literally every Cubs game.

  • Outside of a web scraper, how sure are we that this poisons reddits actual data being sold to ai companies? It seems trivial for them to have an original comment field in the database that's invisible to users or just use backed up data. Or even an anonymized copy of all all original comments not linked to any account that is solely for AI training.
