  • There are many kind of noise. But white noise has all frequencies of sound at about the same volume. (Just like white light is a mix of many colors in equal portions.) Think of an old TV on a blank channel, a rainstorm, or a waterfall.

  • There are already smart light bulbs you can buy off the shelf that use radio signals to see when somebody is in the room. Then it can turn on the lights automatically, without a camera or infrared sensor in the area.

  • They might already have a pilot license. This setup costs way less per hour than actual flying. And it lets you try things that would be risky in a real plane. Or you can practice bad weather or equipment failures safely, so you can better handle a real situation if it occurs.

  • It's an open source project repository. It can be compared to the process descriptions in the patent. But patents and copyright don't cover APIs, as decided in Oracle vs Google in 2021.

I'm saying this usage of reverse engineering is probably safe, but if you reverse engineered a way to process data that happened to match a patent, it doesn't matter that you never saw the patent or original code, it can still be infringement.

  • A lot of ISPs provide email, too. So getting an ISP password lets them reset your other passwords which used that email address for the "forgot password" prompt. (I'm guessing you don't use your ISP provided email, but you're not "most people".)

  • Some nations would be worth more per person to a data broker than others. How many billions have no Internet? How many have little money to spend on the companies the data broker sells to? Americans and Europeans would be at the top of the list, per capita, and could easily exceed $1000, and the total would just barely top 1 trillion.
