Not giving someone a platform on a stage is hardly using force to suppress people's opinions. Go parade nazism elsewhere, you have your platforms. I promise, when there's something worthwhile to read and respond to, people will.

Why give a nazi the stage? Why raise their opinions there? The points are and have been expressed in a civil manner for at least a century.

These kinds of points of view get enough attention as it is. No one needs to give them any more.

I see the whole system as kind of flawed, like. If I think some topic or post is total bullshit and frankly, wrong, I'm supposed to comment to disagree with it, driving it further up in activity. So let's imagine a platform where everyone uses the system "how they're supposed to" and there's a post about blatant bullshit, supporting nazi ideology or some shit like that (exaggerated, but for a point) and it's dressed in the clothes of a well-mannered, discussion provoking post, and it gets a billion comments all disagreeing and it gets to the most active posts just because of this. When if it was downvoted, it'd just be more ignored the more people disagree with it.

I get the intention behind the reasoning for it, but it just doesn't work like that, because the whole system is flawed. The most active posts would be filled with thinly veiled and not so thinly veiled, even clever, ragebait and bullshit.

As much as I hate to see "tHe hIvEmInD" and brigaders flood posts and comments with actual, relevant conversation and takes, with this system we're just gonna have to deal with it I guess.

You're more right than you realize, and not so archaic really. The texture of clouds, or even clouds themselves, mostly smaller, frizzy kind of clouds are called "pilvenhattara" where pilven is a possesive form of 'pilvi' - 'cloud' and hattara is kind of an abstract descriptive word, at least today. The translation of 'rag, tatter' is a bit more complex and at least a little unrelated. There might be some historic connection, since 'hattara' is kind of a descriptive word that describes (at least for quite a long time) a kind of specific type of clouds appearance, more so a small cloud that kind of just falls apart. It's more like a frayed rag and the 'hattara' specifically pertains to the raggedness/frayed part - like the actual physical/visual quality of it being kind of frailed or jagged, like a cloud and so it does relate to clouds.

Hattara as a mythological thing is a different thing itself and again, might have some historic connection - my best guess would be that the kind of creature it means is something that is kind of 'frayed' like a vision or a fog ora cloud or something and is only seen for a moment. I'm unfamiliar with that one, though I've read a ton about folk beliefs and mythlogy here.

In Finnish it's 'vaahtokarkki' which translates to foamcandy.

I'm from a country where we have no fucking sunlight half the year, and seriously, reflectors etc are a must and we have halfway decent infrastructure for biking. So many people injure and cripple themselves or get killed, just because a driver couldn't see them. Remember, a ton of drivers are not just assholes, they're idiots. Yes, words have etymology, but it doesn't really change anything and doesn't make latin, french, whatever-origin loanwords not be english or whatever the language is they're loaned to. You can't say "...well ackshually guillotine isn't english, it's french".
