i remember the no smoking sign would go off, but i don't remember people smoking on flights. but that might be because i had family members who were smokers and people still smoked in restaurants, so maybe i tuned it out.
i mean.... you could look into it? know that it's difficult to set up an ideal study during a pandemic.
edit - also, it's hard to take you seriously in this debate when you aren't bothering to ACTUALLY LOOK AT SOME RESEARCH yourself. but i see you making lots of comments making a show of concern.
beyond that forced treatment is ethically questionable, conditioning other forms of help on sobriety puts people in a bind. it's hard for people to get and stay sober when they're suffering, physically and mentally.
housing/food/health care (to include mental health and psychiatric care) first means it's more likely that efforts toward sobriety will even work.
i think i watched more at some point, but i checked out when one guy chose a more direct route to somewhere through a tunnel instead of going around. and omg!!! there were a bunch of zombies in all those wrecked cars? who could have seen that coming!
i liked most of the first season of fear the walking dead, and it quickly turned terrible as well. wish that series had stayed on the initial outbreak and collapse a little longer.
i like the idea of voting by encrypted app as an option, but lots of disenfranchised/disempowered folks can't rely on that. by which i mean there are homeless folks without phones, and people with abusive families who lack privacy/safety to really utilize it the way we night intend.
i just hate the idea that an ai could have any part of my "voice." i realize there's something foolish about that, but i deleted anyway with the latest news.
i manually deleted most of my comments (i left like 5) and all my posts recently (it was slow going, but i had heard of people running into problems using scripts). 11 years, only 9k karma.
any thoughts on whether that's likely to have accomplished anything?
having viewed the video now, i initially found myself surprised i was not more horrified. my best guess as to why is this - what seemed most notable to me was his apparent sanity and intentionality in making this choice. he chose the where and when of his death and intended it to matter.
haven't seen the reboot, but i remember the original connections and it was fantastic.
