  • Its fine, I'm petty sure they were both implying that one could replace "despite" with "specifically because of" and it would sound just as believable given all this exile business going on

  • "All the people being mean to me after I went mask-off fascist are terrorists, go get 'em Kash!"

Right-wing extremist mass shootings, though, definitely not terrorism.

  • They are saying they want parts of Syria pretty openly, and settlers have been saying they are eyeing southern Lebanon too. It's not gonna stop with Palestine.

  • If you go into your settings for uBlock Origin, there's an option to have it block js. Someone on Lemmy told me that recently and I stopped using NoScript after that since it became redundant

  • TIL... Thank you, kind stranger, for making me curious enough to look further

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugu

Researchers have determined that a fugu's tetrodotoxin comes from eating other animals infested with tetrodotoxin-laden bacteria, to which the fish develops insensitivity over time.[10] Whether tetrodotoxin is sequestered from or produced by symbiotic bacteria is still debated.[11] As such, efforts have been made in research and aquaculture to allow farmers to produce safe fugu. Farmers now produce poison-free fugu by keeping the fish away from the bacteria – see § Aquaculture below.[10]

  • They published a book describing what they were going to do. It was, like, a million times easier than effort Arthur Dent was expected to have put in to protect his house, and this was for our entire fucking country.

It was free, online, in easily downloadable and ingestible form. People that read it were saying quite loudly that it was a Very Bad Thing, and got told they were overreacting or suffering from TDS.

Anyone curious about what else to expect need only read P2025. They fucking told us. Avoiding this was so damn easy if more people would only pay attention. And we're doing away with our education system being of any future use, so that's another thing to look forward to.

When a fascist runs for office, you don't vote them in. We failed so hard and the consequences haven't even caught up yet.

  • Can confirm, mine is touch-enabled. Forgot to mention that in my post. Model 20UD-003KUS

  • I just got a Lenovo T14 Gen 1 with a Ryzen 7 4750U (I think that's around 11th gen on Intel?), 16GB soldered RAM as well as an open slot to add more, 14" screen (on the larger side of your wishlist, I know), and it was $300US on eBay. It's been fine with Linux Mint running Cinnamon as my daily driver right now, and also fine with other related OSs like vanilla Debian and Ubuntu. Have not tried with Arch, btw, but these T-series machines have a pretty good reputation as far as I know in terms of Linux ease-of-use.

  • Presently rocking a Versa here with 215k miles right now and it doesn't want to quit. It just keeps going.

(Not a CVT though, not sure if that's the difference)

  • The moron factor cannot be stressed enough. Or ignorant rube factor, or internet troll voter factor, or however anyone that either voted for him or protest non-voted wants to identify. Voting against fascism to save some semblance of what we already lie to ourselves about being an American Dream was so fucking easy. When someone says they'll do fascist things, after having tried a coup once already and gotten away with it, and they subsequently get voted back into office despite everything beforehand, I start to lose words to describe my frustration. Things won't get better by voting worse actors into decision making positions.

  • You are wanting people whose literal job is to legislate, which they were elected to do in order to represent the voice of their constituents on legislative matters, to stop trying to legislate in an effort to build legal walls to defend against fascism?

This is a case where we need the dog-and-pony show. We need everyone doing everything they can, especially the foundational things, so that later on no one can say "why didn't they just try the normal way and things wouldn't have been so difficult?"

Edit: we need our representatives to be doing more, I agree there, but I'm saying we need them do AT LEAST do their job, and we should probably be saying "Yes, and..." to them instead of just "you're doing it wrong."

  • If you cared to share correct and accurate info, you would start by fixing the title of your post. But you've just stated above that you can't be bothered. That's fucked up, homie.

  • Please, I am begging you, do not make this sheet. Right wing media will pick up on it, the golden one will catch wind of it, and it will become an achievement checklist. Please do not.

  • Ok, sorry, I read it differently when I first commented. Asking for proof of eligibility to work in the US with a reasonable timeline to furnish documents definitely seems like it makes sense like others said, but I'll admit this isn't my area of expertise by a long shot in terms of hiring protocols and my initial comment was from entirely the wrong perspective to address your dilemma.

  • Stairway to Heaven if I ever saw one...

  • "May not"?? What is that even supposed to mean? Were they Applying While Brown or something? Talking with an accent?

It sounds an awful lot like this isn't something to stick your nose in and you should do your job, to me.

Edit: wait, are you the interviewer in this situation?

  • "Bite me, lmao, ok that tickles that's actually kinda nice"

  • I'll just toss that over here with the rest of the fascism

  • I love how she always waits as long as possible to judge how people might react to her taking a position on something. Way to lead from the back, as usual. At least she's retiring, though. NH primaries in 2026 will be important to try and get a more progressive candidate on the ballot.

Now if only Hassan would heed my messages and resign for being just as weak and unprincipled.
