  • Hard to believe was what was being asked 😅 the number is present in many websites about trash or composting, but I don't know it's exact origin. But I guess at some moment someone digged on a 25 year old landfill and found remains of a lettuce.

Even if this is exaggerating, the moral of the story is that it's such a waste to send organics to landfills at a time where we're losing soils at record pace. Food waste should be composted and returned to the soil.

But it's possible that that lettuce was a fresh and plastic wrapped thrown to the landfill like that, because that does happen as well. And maybe that created optimal conditions to prevent decomposition.

  • Lettuces in landfills take up to 25 years to decompose.

  • It's definitely a forum and that's it. And we do need it like I said. But whenever they pretend they're anything else it gets awkward. Not up to the UN to give Rússia swift access.

  • There's some redundancy, but a ban solves the issue instantly and also creates a strong incentive for better ground transport.

  • Aviation is responsible for around 2% of emissions, but it's also the global connector. While we should refrain from flying when possible just counting on individuals to take the best behavior won't work.

    What should be done:

    • ban private jets
    • end all the tax perks for aviation, which allow for insanely cheap tickets that promote senseless flying
    • ban short over-land flights
    • simplify ticketing and reduce prices on international trains in Europe, it's almost always too expensive to cross borders by train in Europe, it makes no sense.

We need aviation, but we also need it to be sensible in a warming planet.

  • The UN is a joke.. we kind of need it to exist, but pretty much a pointless organization right now and while most governments in the world are undemocratic.
