  • Wait, so dairy gives you a mudslide even if it's lactose free? Are those other symptoms (breathing, etc) from dairy too, or are those from gluten only?

It sounds like what you have is cow milk allergy. That's when you're allergic not to lactose, but the milk proteins. I think it's more common in infants, but some adults have it too. Ranges in how bad it is, from mudslide and vomiting to anaphylactic shock.

If both your gluten and milk allergies are symptomatically similar, perhaps rather than separate disorders, it's actually one single issue of your body producing antibodies to various proteins it shouldn't be defending against? I mean gluten is a protein too, after all. I wonder how common this is. I also wonder if there are any doctors doing research on this.

  • Peace with ME is easier than peace with Russia. ME countries mostly don't have territorial ambitions in Europe, but Russia does.

Having just Turkey and Iran on our side would likely be enough to keep Russia's army out of our borders, if it came in the format of a strong military alliance. Technically Turkey is already an ally of most European countries through NATO. Iran also has pretty good intelligence AFAIK?

However, an alliance with Iran can only come at the expense of dropping Israel as an ally. Morally speaking I'm down with that. Luckily they're not a NATO member either. But realistically that also means one of the top intelligence powers in the world would have a massive grudge against Europe. And those fucks will kill your family just for believing in the wrong god, imagine what they'd do in retaliation for being backstabbed diplomatically. I can almost see why world leaders choose to ignore the genocide... Not that I agree with it.

  • Welp.

  • Apparently it's only good if you get good grants and scheme around with the money.

According to this professors and above make pretty good money for Tartu cost of living, assuming you're not trying to support an entire family on a single salary.

Really, it's a place you could move to for the vibes, but it won't be the best place to make money.

  • Estonian here, first Yank scientist on Lemmy to come work at University of Tartu gets a beer on me. Note that when I say "come work at" I mean I live in the city, not that I work at the university too. I dropped out after a semester and a half lol

Yank refers to the entire USA here, though younger generations don't use it much. You could be from Texas or California and still be a Yankee.

  • Portugal could never buy enough jets to stop the US

No, but Spain is right next to it and France isn't that far. Both likely to help. But why would they help Portugal if Portugal itself doesn't take meaningful steps to protect itself? You use a lot of exclamation points in your comments! That doesn't magically mean you're right.

  • I won't fight you because I agree. But a lot of people think it's more free to have freedoms end when it comes to proprietary forks and such.

To me, that's just one less freedom.

  • Odoo actually. You more or less can't use all the features, there's too many. That doesn't mean it's the best ERP, it just tries to be a true generalist, which means it needs lots of customizations usually.

  • Yeah, the requirements should also be clear - or at least clear before any sort of implementation starts. Defining the requirements is a large part of what our consultants do and the more experienced ones know how to ask questions to get perspectives of people other than the "stars". Takes months usually to get things to where us developers can get started on anything. We've built some hella cool shit for some customers but then you look at the git history and realize that it took the customer over a YEAR to go live. They must've easily invested six figures getting this ERP just right for their needs. Automatic imports from other software they use, lots of customizations, including some brand new in-erp apps. They're loving it so far. But you don't get this without considering a bunch of people's needs.

  • Stena out here being bad news as any other time I've heard of them.

I used to work in an electronics refurb place. The Stena laptop pallets were straight out of landfills. Just a bunch of muddy laptops thrown onto a pallet. Macbooks priced by the tonne. We had to extract as much value out of that muddy, moldy filth as possible. Lots of people are now using those health hazard laptops without even knowing it.

Any time someone said "Stena goods coming in a few days", you just wanted to kill yourself.
