What do you use to backup all your photos and documents, cloud or external drive or both?

  • Master copy on my desktop

    At midnight, my cron job kicks in and mirrors it to

    • hard drive
    • makes a backup to another machine via restic
    • makes another restic backup to backblaze

    • Is this the right community? I have a helpdesk interview next week and I dont know if my attire looks good or ridiculously goofy.

  • Maybe I'm being a little paranoid, but I DID accidentally delete a few directories with dotenvs in them, which is what led me to find trash in the first place. That experience really traumatized me... so to break the rm habit and make sure I don't do that on ANY computer I set up abbr rm '# Don\'t use this! Use trash-cli instead' # and abbr t trash.

  • I use Obsidian for notes too. Recently, I've been playing with Starlight (based on Astro) for notes that I want to put on the web. It supports .md & .mdx files so creating a page is pretty much just copy + paste. Haven't gotten around to self-hosting it yet though
