A church should stand for whatever the tenants of the religion is. Christian is common in the us and generally holds help the poor as a tenant (as do several others) but tht doesn't mean they all do.
Vehicles need it because the keyless entry radio needs to pair with the engine start. Otherwise a thief can steel a car in a few minutes by bringing their own computers.
Abuse. I don't agreewithfree speach in all things. I doupt anyone does. I don't want to see constant (to the point of only) ads for vbucks. I don't want threats to my person. There are a few other things like that, that I think we all agree on., I then have a personal list of things like porn or swearing that iidon't want to see but some of you do. Where to draw theelineethus isn't clear but there is one.
I said on mastodon that the correct decisions is who the states put on the ballot is up to them. However states do not elective a president, they send electors. The electors will not be allowed to choose Trump when they meet. Ideally this comes with a reminder that no law or contract may bind who an elector votes for when they meet. This would give the electors a lot more power which I think is a good thing (and also the whole point of them in the first place).
The election might go to the house of representatives of course.
That missile may be used by Ukraine defending against Russians attackers trying to kill them. Sure people die as a result of your work, but you also allow others to live.
The real unethical thing is for anyone - regardless of where you work - to allow your military weapons to be used for "evil". (Note that I didn't define evil)
Fire departments who serve farms can get water from a lake instead of having to go all the way back to town. If you are in the city they will use fire hydrants but if not they have water trucks that refill at the nearest pond.
the grain elevator implies there are farms around so they would have this equipment.
the town had an elevator which implies that they have the ability to go to farms without water (the well for drinking doesn't count for fires). I would expect this to include the ability to pump from the nearest lake to whatever farm they are called to (most of mn is not more than a long walk to a lake - but I don't know where this town is)
Nothing is exposed. There are things I want exposed, but I don't want to keep security patches up to date, even if there is a zero day. I'm looking for someone trustworthy to hire for things that it would be useful to expose, but they are hard to find.
300 indigenous languages in the US sounds about right. English would not be one of them, even though English is the dominate language in the US. There were a lot of different native tribes before the "white man" arrived, and they had their own language and culture, which a few people maintain (in some form) today.
What does normal mean in this context? There are many different languages in the world. Romance languages are all pretty similar, as are Germanic languages. English is a mix of Germanic and romantic languages, and very similar to both. Thus learning any romance or any Germanic language is fairly easy for someone who knows English. It is much more difficult to learn a language from a different family.
While I'm in theory limited, there are more things to do in life than study other cultures. I have a todo list that I honestly expect it would take me 3000 years to get to the end of. (I doubt medical science will give me anywhere near that long to live). That I can't learn about some culture in depth because I haven't learned the language yet - well learning their language is something I'll get around to when I'm 1000 years old.
