I name them after a female important character in whatever novel I'm enjoying when I set the system up. Back when I was single the female was important, now it is just tradition.
Since I like fantasy there are plenty of names available that are both pronounceable and nonsense.
Don't aim for 100%. Just 90% would be good. Make it a point when buying something to look for someone else first. Often there is a widget.com company that sells the same thing for a similar price but they have experts to write up the description and so help you choose which of the 100 different manufactures is really best for you. Every brand says they have the best, but often there are differences an expert would know about that you will never figure out on amazon.
Amazon reviews are terrible - sure what you choose worked for your purposes, but almost nobody buys all 100 (or even 10 of them) and compares, and thus you don't know if this works but should be a 3 star because of how much better something they didn't buy is.
I live in an area with a lot of iron. I cannot trust a compass to always point north. Generally I've had no problems in the woods: follow the trails that are on the maps, or at least stay close enough that you can always find them again and you are fine. (until of course you are not)
Build cars in Germany, Japan, South Korea and the like. focus on something non car you can sell to them in return. You can do anything but not everything.
Nukes are a waste of money unless you already have everything else. The only time anyone would use a nuke is when they decide they would rather end the world than lose the war. You are generally much better off just planning to not lose the war in the first place because you have enough arms. Canada (unlike Isreal or Iran) is rich enough to do all needed conventional arms development themselves (or better yet share the development with allies: Australia and Europe)
My NAS is behind a firewall and doesn't normally run the types of things you would compromise. (no web browser). They need to break many things at the same time to compromise it. I'm not saying it would be impossible to compromise my NAS, but is is very unlikely just because of how difficult it is. If I'm target of a state level attack I'm sunk anyway.
though offline backups are always a good idea. However they by definition need several days to restore (if they take less than that they are too easy for an attacker to target)
I consider bows more fun. If I want food on the table the gun is better. However the legal bow season is often much longer and that makes the bow more likely to put food on the table if you can hunt everyday. (hunting is in large part waiting for the animal to come by)
There should be two screens. One only visible from the navigators seat and always available. The other can be where it makes sense, but it should be disabled for all input when the car is not in park. When the car is in motion only limited information is allowed - you shouldn't be able to tell what the name of the song playing is as that isn't something you have any business reading. You should get some indication of what the next turn is, but even that needs serious UX work to ensure it is not distracting.
Just remember any backup is better than nothing. Even if the backup is done wrong (this includes untested!) odds are you can read it and extract at least some data, it just may take a lot of time. Backups that are done right just mean that when (not if!) your computers break you are quickly back up and running.
There are several reasons to backup data only and not the full system. First you may be unable to find a computer exactly/enough like the one that broke, and so the old system backup won't even run. Second, even if you can find an identical enough system, do you want to, or maybe it is time to upgrade anyway - there are pros and cons of arm (raspberry pi) vs x86 servers (there are other obscure options you might want but those are the main ones), and you may want to switch anyway since you have. Third, odds are some of the services need to be upgraded and so you may as well use this forced computer time to apply the upgrade. Last, you may change how many servers you have, should you split services to different computers, or maybe consolidate the services on the system that died to some other server you already have.
The only advantage of a full system backup is when they work they are the fastest way to get going again.
in germany it might be possible to buy the good stuff. I'm planning on making my own because what I can but is related to what I had in germany only if you are 20 feet away.
Go to local "art in the park", music nights, and other such local events and listen to the band playing. Unless you live in a very rural area there is likely many many bands playing someplace every day around you. When you hear something you life find the band and ask how to get their music. If they sell CDs buy one - buy one even if you only accept the music but don't like it just to support the idea that CDs are not dead.
IN fish water goes in through the mouth and out through the gills, so the connection is required. Some might be able to take water in and out through the gills, but the normal ways is in the mouth out the gills.
Even if they are problems, odds are we will have enough information that someone will fix the drivers (meaning we can fix them), and the other code bugs will be fixed.
If you want to help buy a few and spread to your favorite desktop environment developers. I'm sure KDE e.v. can put you in touch with some student who writes code and would love to get a laptop this nice. (I'm a kde guy so they come to mind first, but I'm sure Gnome or the others can as well)
I'm not stopping you. However make sure you understand what you want to do and why it isn't recommended in general. It looks like an interesting project that I hope to read about sometime (hopefully not as a you sunk to the bottom of the ocean)
Because too often people are asking for a solution to the wrong problem. I can tell how to setup a car to drive from the Hawaii to Iceland, but odds are that is not your actual goal. (most often the correct answer is fly to iceland and rent a car, or perhaps just public transit in iceland. You can also put your car on a ship. It is possible to modify a car to drive on the ocean if that is really what you want to do)
I grossly oversimplified things (I was typing on a phone). If everyone understands the above as a gross over simplification Christians will generally agree it is close enough to their truth. Meanwhile if we get into the more complex version that whichever Christian sect believes we discover this is no agreement.
