  • Interesting, there are indeed situations where the split between volunteers and professionals is a bit debatable

  • P.S. I can’t post to this community from Lemmy.World.

Strange, there are quite a few comments from that instance

  • This app looks nice, but Element has improved quite a bit recently, and the others clients have improved as well

  • Sorry, I think I got confused between you and another comment. The 2 instances I was referring to where lemmy.world and lemmy.ml (as Lemmy devs didn't want lemmy.ml to be the flagship instance).

    SJW is great

  • The easiest way I've seen it is to enforce it at the community level.

Actually that makes me think I should probably do that in the communities I mod ha ha

  • Honestly the language selection in general is just a bad idea/baddly executed. Until people told me that those where the reason 4/5s of posts and comments never showed up, I didnt know that these settings existed

That was a bug, nowadays the default behaviour is to have all languages displayed at account setup, the user can then change it afterwards it they want.

  • Is it really something you notice? I haven't seen that, maybe I don't go to the same communities

  • Personally not that much apart from attending local gov meetings, kinda interesting to see what’s going on in the area, as well as grants available for local organizations etc.

That's already nice! I should probably start doing this more too

  • 450 subscribers, a decent basis

  • If you ever try to get someone you know off that platform

  • Scaled filter in 19.X helps with that

  • Discuss.tchncs.de, my main account, is very decent. Reactive update timeframes and jumping in if there is an issue.

I had similar experience with lemm.ee and sopuli.xyz, also based in Europe
