  • Meh, Brave is still Chroium. Even if they continue to support manifest v2, even today the are selling „good“ ads to the users. That and the Crypto bullshit they tried a while ago makes them untrustworthy in my eyes.

Firefox is the only real alternative.

  • You seem to be a nice guy. Do you know who is not a nice guy? J.K. Rowling. She is scum. So buying Hogwarts Legacy would be a big no no for me. Piracy or as a gift it's fine. So if I am one of the lucky few, I would be happy to get a copy.

    Fitting image follows:

  • Hey, I mean Helles is okay, but there are alc free IPAs from Maisel & Friends or Störtebeker!

  • Why do they quote the piece of shit Trump with his stupid framing? Crooked this, sleepy that … stop that!

  • Too bad. Hey, crazy idea: let's create an open alternative for reddit with good content! Maybe something in the fediverse or so.

  • Cannot say if this is sarcasm or yout brain just melted a bit some time ago.

  • You are making extraordinary claims here. All people challenging the status quo are hated on and attacked by a big part of the population. Be it vegans, queer people, feminists. How do we dare to question their identity, place in the world or behaviour by having an opini9n or by just fucking existing?

  • I scan nearly all the crap that comes in through my (physical) mailbox and throw it away. My trusty Brother multi laser thingy sends it to me per e-mail and I can sort it later, when the PC is on. Once a month or so, I need to print some pages and it does that, too. Awesome thing, wouldn't want to miss it.

  • Exactly this. For me it becomes obvious, when I play older games. Sure, A Link to the Past is still a gem, Super Metroid or SMB3, too. But many of those older games, we have fond memories of, kind of suck today. Just a bit, they are still fun. But the magic is gone. Saw that with Sands of Time a few weeks ago. Then the System Shock Remake came and gave that sense of wonder back.

Downloads are no problem. Disk space is cheaper then ever. Go have fun discussing games on Lemmy while waiting for the download, watch a Video about it or whatever. It is just harder to have fun, because we have sooo much to choose from and because some of us became old grumpy farts (myself included).

  • Yesss! My first five minutes with OpenSuse.

I mean, you can change that behaviour somehow. But there are so many other small things like the constant vendor changes. Zypper is just so quirky. It's a cool distro and to have a rolling release option like tumbleweed is always a big plus in my opinion, but I just wouldn't recommend it to people who are not really eager to play around with their distro.

  • Ah, OpenSuse. The distro with the package management that spams your drive full of unnecessary optional dependencies.

    Would always recommend EndeavourOS.

  • That doesn't work. Either there is physical proof or there is none. Afaik the latter is correct.

  • If you really think that the core of capitalism is what you described, you have no clue what you are talking about. Funny, that you ended that by calling other peoples claims stupid.

  • We seem to be talking about different things here: science and the scientific method. Science is a process involving many different institutions and individuals with their personal worldviews, problems and interests. The state of the scientific method is a whole other discussion, I am not able to lead.

  • The process of science is not corrupted but deeply flawed. It is like that, because we as a species are as well. Science is the best method we have to create secured knowledge, but it is far from perfect. Things like predatory journals, lazy to non existing peer reviews in established publications, reports about scientists who are under pressure to create positive results even if their research had none of those etc. show us that .

Capitalism plays a big part in this problem. To plainly reject that is simply naive.

  • That is lovely. Ticks are far worse then wasps. Thanks for the info.

Can't they also start to annoy ticks and fly around their faces?

  • Interesting. I was a triggered vegetarian and didn't like those guys calling me a cheese breather (I'm still ambivalent towards them). When I became a vegan it was because of the non-drastic stating a fact people, not because of the jerks.

So maybe we need both – and many more forms of activism?
