  • Yeah I think so.

I wonder how they'd scale something like this up though if it's a success?

  • This is pretty tame honestly. Seen far worse at festivals and nights out in Cardiff!

And oktoberfest is another whole story!

  • Well in my mind few years ago was 1999...

Seriously though I thought this only happened within the last 10 years, TIL.

  • During some war games a few years ago, the Dutch Navy managed to score a hit against a US Navy carrier using a diesel sub.

Like someone else said here, carriers are big, slow targets, it's not impossible for something to sneak past and sink them.

  • Do you remember the good ol' days in F1 when we had:

    BUT

    GRO

    PER

  • Yeah I was subbed to both when I first joined Lemmy, but this one seemed more active. I've since blocked lemmy.ml so wouldn't see it anyway.

  • It would be good if Lemmy had a "snooze community" feature where you could not see posts in any feeds for a specified amount of time. So basically on a race weekend you could snooze the community for 3 days or whatever and no posts would appear in your feed.

Edit: raised it as a feature enhancement on Lemmy's Githhub page, but was closed as the devs don't have enough time, which is fair enough.

  • This feels reminiscent of Mercedes in 2022 when they suddenly found themselves in the upper-midfield and were apologising to fans, as if it were just a temporary blip. They couldn't accept their new position after winning for so long.

  • Ah right, that makes sense, thanks!

  • What exactly does "scaled" mean?

  • I didn't know there was a front wing clampdown. Who seems to be the target of this?

  • And how do you do that en-masse? How do you spread the word to people by word of mouth who haven't heard of your product/service?

  • By telling them, who said you cant?

    By telling who? And How?

  • Your local bakery can rely on local customers who likely walk right by it. They produce inexpensive products that are relatively easy and quick to produce.

Not every business is like that. Maybe they spent a lot of money upfront on research and development and need to shift x units by a certain time to make it work financially? How could they do that if they have no physical presence on the high street and without telling people at scale that they exist?

Open source software is generally free, written by volunteers. There isn't the financial pressure to sell and recover costs by a certain time.

  • How do they grow if they can't tell anyone about their products or services?

  • This was probably the only thing to remember the entire race. I hope theres a website dedicated to Leclerc's spicy radio comments.

  • Same. I wasn't really interested in him coming into the season for some reason, but he's been very impressive and mature. Reminds me of Piastri, just hitting the ground running.

I feel like the quality of juniors these days is incredibly high.
