  • Nothing matters to reality. "Mattering" is a human judgement. "Fact" is also a human judgement. The things you have in your head that you call facts and opinions are both the same kind of thing. We consider the ones that model reality effectively to be facts. They are all opinions and discerning which we classify as facts is an ongoing process.

    I did not say opinions are fact. And I am not saying that opinions change reality. But your assertions about what facts and opinions are is incorrect.

  • It constantly amazes me how many people haven't caught on to the fact that just always preemptively being nice to people makes your life so much better because people tend to treat you decently in return.

  • Washing in hard water can make cotton feel rougher.

    Also when cotton is damp, like if you sweat much, it tends to be abrasive. That is why hikers say 'cotton kills' and recommend you stay away from it in favor of wool or synthetic 'technical' fabrics.

  • If you are willing to grind your own grain, whole grains can be stored in plastic buckets for years without spoiling. You've probably got to like whole grain stuff, sifting to get white flour is a pain.
