  • Aren't just about all emulators open source? I bet you can find everything you need for free on F-Droid.

  • Is there some kind of employment (or unemployment) office from the government in your country? They could have their own job board. It might suck, but sometimes you're lucky and find something.

  • Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam spam and spam!

Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!

  • NixOS: Always installing exactly the same bloatware.

  • I originally registered the domain I'm now using for Lemmy for the company "The Empire". I was a kid and did it just for the lulz. Also I additionally used my real name.

    Nothing ever happened.

  • In German they have the same weight. Mostly, I guess with everything else being equal ä comes after a.

  • CDPR came to the rescue even outside of GOG. My son bought Cyberpunk 2077 the other day on Steam and luckily for me it comes without DRM so I can even play it while he is playing.

  • CEO of Monitors Inc: Got it, put eye grabbing RGB all over the monitors!

  • Read an interview with her the other day.

  • Heroic can support EA games and other launchers by basically doing the same thing Lutris does. You just install the launcher with Proton and use that.

  • Heroic is better than Lutris for Epic, GOG and Amazon because it doesn't need their respective launchers or installers. It basically downloads just the game files without any intermediary archive, installer or launcher. So game installation is much faster. Heroic also supports game updates and cloud saves.

Heroic accomplishes that by using open source command line clients for the respective shops. I really wish Lutris would do the same. Would make it much better.

What makes Lutris better is that it supports even more stores and launchers and even emulators. It also has Steam integration. So it can contain all your games. Unfortunately it does not display all your available games in one combined library view, which makes finding uninstalled games much harder. But supposedly they are working on getting a combined view. No idea what's taking them so long.

Lutris used to give you more tools to configure Wine and other helpers, but Heroic is quickly catching up.

  • Due to Long Covid I can only lay in bed and most games are too intense for me. So I actually do watch let's plays.

I really like Welonz. She has a really nice mix of indies and big titles, regularly tries out a great variety of games. She is very thorough and while she might not find all the secrets she will go out of her way to show alternate endings and stuff. And she has an interesting voice, so rumor has it that she is actually a ten year old boy.

  • I've seen language switchers with translated language names that were sorted by the English name. So "Deutsch" was sorted under G.

  • Now I know why my brother kept that floppy with a virus on it.

  • I once got a token for a shopping cart when I just wanted the shopping cart and give the other guy the 50 cents I suspected in there. He told me that he had gotten the token as a gift himself and that I should pass it on when the time has come.

A few years later I gave it to someone who didn't have any coins with them.

And now I remember a story that should be more important. A complete stranger paid for our engagement rings.

I wanted to propose to my girlfriend with a very special ring. One from a gumball machine. Gumball machines have become rare enough. One with rings was almost impossible to find. I'd always take different routes to and from work and stuff to watch out for one.

So one day I finally found one. With rings besides other toys. It took 20 cent coins but I didn't have a single one on me. But I spied a woman walking along on the other side of the road. I sprinted to her end explained my conundrum. She had three coins. I offered a euro in return but she refused.

The three coins netted me five balls from the machine. I think it was broken and I could have gotten them without any coins. Anyways, in the five balls were three rings. I chose the one with the most beautiful stone for her and one without a stone for myself. I posed the question as soon as I arrived home.

  • Sounds more like a YSK than an unpopular opinion.
