  • Yeah, for a Bethesda game, 25% of people using mods right out of the gate is frankly totally believable.

And while starfield isn't perfect, people not finishing the first mission would hardly be an indictment against the game itself, who judges if a game is worth playing in the first mission? Usually - and especially in games like this - the first mission has practically nothing to do with the standard gameplay

  • I mean, not necessarily - they might be buying it on the switch because they want a "mobile" version and don't own a steam deck.

But yeah, ultimately if you own a switch, you should know what to expect by now from anything that isn't a first party Nintendo title (and even then it can be a bit hit or miss from a performance standpoint)

  • I don't really regret it, because it was a truly awesome experience while it was fresh, and I probably sunk hundreds of hours into it over the pandemic. But yeah, it does get old surprisingly quickly, and there are literally no new games for it that aren't arcade-style trash from the past few years.

Sadly, I think HL:A was the peak of VR gaming, and it's all been downhill from there.

Maybe when standalones get powerful enough that they can run "real" games, it'll kickoff again, but I don't think I've put on my headset in months at this point, and there's nothing on the horizon that's likely to make me grab it again any time soon

  • I mean, unless it's decorated, cakes are fairly cheap (especially if you compare it to other foods by calories per dollar)

I'd say the biggest thing stopping most people from doing this regularly is a desire to not get type 2 diabetes lol

  • Not booking any new trips? It's for the solar eclipse, and bookings in the area I want to see it in are already getting scarce, so no sense in missing out on that rare experience just to screw Airbnb out of $100 (or whatever their cut is)

  • I'm a fucking fiend for ice in my water, like I literally will fill the cup full of ice first, then put water in the space that's left. When I visited Europe it was fucking rough getting used to never having ice. And if you asked for it (which I tried not to do, but I caved a few times) they'd give you like 3 cubes

  • And with that, I think my time using Airbnb is officially over. Don't get me wrong, this is far from the only reason, but hotels are already basically the same price (often cheaper) and come with so much less drama and privacy issues.

I've got two trips booked on Airbnb over the next year, I'll probably keep both, but I won't be booking any future trips

  • Seriously, if they present some actual evidence, I'll be standing right with the Republicans (well, OK a reasonable distance apart so people don't think we're together) in calling for his impeachment.

So far though, all they've actually put forward are legal issues with Hunter (who I didn't vote for), with no actual legal issues with Biden. I think it says a lot that they've started this whole process without actually presenting a shred of evidence beforehand.

The whole thing reeks of "you made us look bad by impeaching our guy, and that hurt our feelings. so now we're gonna do it to you guys!"

  • Super weird that they can't scrape together a down-payment in a time where 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and housing prices are at an all time high.

Also, with interest rates being as they are, mortgages are likely more expensive than rent. Im in the process of closing on a house, and I know our monthly cost is way the hell up from before.

Seriously though dude, you need to take a step back and realize you're a bit out of touch. All your comments have big "millenials wouldn't have money problems if they just stopped buying so much avacado toast" energy

  • Which there's absolutely nothing wrong with, provided both parties are over 18

No one is upset that he fucked fans, there upset that he at least tried to fuck underaged fans.

Frankly if you don't see a difference, I'm scared for you

  • Cmon dude, have you not been in any of the threads that remotely concern Apple? Lemmy absolutely seethes at the notion that anyone might actually prefer Apple products.

And before you call me a fan boy, I'm literally typing this on a Samsung phone while playing games on my windows PC. you don't have to be an Apple obsessed fan boy to find the circle jerk annoying

  • renters just make excuse after excuse after excuse why they won't buy a house.

"wahhh I'm living paycheck to paycheck and may not be able to pay rent this month, let alone set aside a down-payment and closing costs for a house when houses are at an all time high price"

Poor people, amirite? Don't they know that the solution to all their problems is to just get more money?

  • While I do agree this is stupid, who actually transfers data to their phone via USB anymore?

I've seen this mentioned in literally every single iphone related discussion since the news broke, but what percentage of users will even be affected? And of those affected, how many are doing it often enough that max speed is really important?

I'll bet less than 0.1% tbh, probably significantly less

The first and only time I transfered data onto my current phone (Z Fold 4) was to dump a bunch of ROMs on it, and since that was hundreds of gigs, it took a longass time anyways

  • I feel like way too many folks forget that employment is a 2-way street. I have a skill that my employer needs, and I give them my skill and time in exchange for my compensation (salary plus both hard and soft benefits). It is not my responsibility to make sure that the company is at its most successful regardless of my own personal comfort and happiness, my only responsibility is to perform the duties stated in my job description.

When (as is happening all over my industry) a large number of employers decide that something like remote work is now a high priority for them, then it really does stop mattering whether or not it's best for the company, because all the employees with any bargaining power (which is to say, the good ones) will just leave for companies that do offer remote work.

Think about it this way, it's absolutely in every companies best interest to pay minimum wage and/or offer no health insurance, 401k, etc (at least where allowed by the law) . So why do companies that need skilled workers offer those things? Because if they didnt then they would never be able to hire talent.

Whats best for the business is getting the best talent, and you only do that by being cognizant of what the most talented people in your industry want. And in most industries where remote work is possible, remote work is increasingly becoming something people want. And COVID proved that whether or not there are slight disadvantages to collaboration in remote work (I'm not personally sold, and the research so far is contradictory), it does work, so companies have increasingly fewer excuses to drag everyone back to the office
