That's some gatekeeping bullshit. I'm a huge fan of several games in the series (1, 2, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, and Tales From the Borderlands). You can't tell me I'm not a "true" fan just because I didn't like every game with a Borderlands logo on it. That's akin to saying someone isn't a true Zelda fan if they don't love the Zelda CDI games

the easiest pirating method I know of getting music is finding the song on YouTube and that is defo not studio quality.

That's the worst possible way to do it. You might as well try to hook up a tape recorder to the radio like my dad used to.

Why did you use the worst game in the series as an example?

Even right wing economists agree that carbon tax is the best way to do it. The only case against it is a climate change denial case. It uses the laws of economics to attack the problem of climate change at the source. The issue is whether the tax rate is right and whether we allow corpos to buy "offset credits" that are actually worthless.

So why not just pirate it? When you buy digital music, only a miniscule fraction actually goes to the artist.

Depends on what you're buying IMO. If you're "buying" it in the sense of buying license to listen to it like with DRM like iTunes, nothing could make that worth it IMO. But if I'm buying physical media of the music itself (eg. Vinyl) then I'm usually willing to pay whatever the market price is for that album.

How about just making them actually pay an amount of taxes commensurate with the burdens they apply on society?

I might. I'm not as big on the podcast format for true crime stuff. I much prefer the docu format. But it's okay, what I believe on the matter doesn't matter that much. I'll take your word for it that the podcast makes a compelling case for the other side.

Also check out debunking a murderer. Remember making a murderer on Netflix? Turns out that doc was bullshit, dude totally did those murders. Hear the prosecutors side and all the evidence the Netflix show left out.

I don't know one way or another but it was pretty clear that there was a lot of shaky evidence and a lot of coerced confession stuff which definitely doesn't seem like justice. There was also a second season of that show where they brought in a much better lawyer (who specializes in exonerating false convictions) and showed some more significant problems with the prosecutor's case and also that the guy's defence lawyers were not the most competent (and IIRC also uncovered that the guy's brother in law had a collection of r*pe porn images on his laptop)

Beyond the obvious answer of FOSS, there are some nonfree software out there that have powerful APIs and extremely rich third-party plugin/extension ecosystems. The two that immediately popped into my mind are Obsidian and FoundryVTT. Both are incredibly powerful tools that are only made more powerful by the huge amount of plugins available. Maybe it's because I've been running D&D a lot lately that those two stick out in my mind.

Maybe it has a setting to gradually start the noise as well? It wouldn't make a lot of sense for it to introduce the light gradually while also blasting you with the sound.

How do you know it wasn't going off if you weren't awake? I've had situations before where mine went off but my brain incorporated it into the dream I was having for a little while before waking me up.
