  • All of this could have been said about PDX's Sims competitor Life By You when it got "delayed indefinitely" too. But then a week later it was cancelled. And then a week after that the lead dev came out and said there was no reason for it to have been cancelled because they had been on track for release before Paradox pulled the plug.

  • I keep seeing posts like this one here on Lemmy. I'm always unsure if that's a statement, or asking for dating advice or a cry for help or venting.

A lot of them are the same person. OP is a serial ban evader on like his tenth account over the last month. And he won't take the hint that people don't appreciate his venting, so he always makes these same incel-y forever-alone posts. He's very easy to spot as a result.

  • Turn-based all the way. RTS is a test of how fast you can click. APM is king. Turn-based allows you to think and plan and make decisions. Brain is king.

To be clear there's nothing wrong with liking RTS, it's just not for me.

  • I've been really enjoying worldbuilding for my Pathfinder 2e game. I am not a fan of the default setting, so I've crafted my own which is based on North America in the 1800s. Very steampunk-y and fantasy. My players have been loving it so far.

  • !rpg@ttrpg.network is probably appropriate. Just don't be too spammy (ie. more than one post an hour)

It might actually be better since Lemmy is quite ephemeral to start a blog somewhere instead and post links to it on that muni

  • Much slower speed limits as well as physical traffic calming measures to limit how fast people are comfortable going on streets in cities. Currently the way it's handled is mostly by trying to optimize for car throughput. There is no consideration to the safety of pedestrians or cyclists, nor really of the risk to drivers at higher speeds in a collision. North American cities are so drunk on car-centric approaches to urban planning that they can't comprehend how to build cities that are actually conducive to human life anymore.

  • Unfortunately Lemmy is a lot more ephemeral than Reddit. If a post here gets deleted, it and the comment thread are basically gone. On Reddit deletion simply hides the post unless the post was of something illegal for Reddit to host. I really miss that behaviour.

As a result, I doubt Lemmy will ever become a valuable backlog of information like Reddit.

  • Technically it stands for "Computer RPG" but nowadays it's more commonly meant as "Classic RPG". It refers to any of those games like the classic Fallouts, Baldur's Gates, Planescape Torment, that blend turn-based strategy game with RPG. Modern examples are BG3, Pathfinder: War of the Righteous, Pillars Of Eternity 2, Wasteland 3, etc.

  • Honestly the only hope will be if there is a Linux nerd in the IT shop who is willing to make the case for OP from the sysadmin side of the fence. If you don't have someone batting for you in that corner, there's basically no hope.

Source: I've been using Linux at work in a Windows centric org for 5 years. Only reason is because a blessed nerd in my local IT support shop was on my side when I started there.

  • That's because they are psychological warfare. They don't need to be liked because the goal isn't to create a positive association with the product, it's to brainwash people into thinking they need the product
