  • You can do tourism wrong (as Italian cities do), and do it right, like Amsterdam started to do now. I was there in April last year and I was able to take pictures of the canals with no one in them but me effortlessly. They literally paid ads to tell British low cost flight tourists not to come visit.

    It's called self-care.

  • 3465 € in 21 years at today's prices for 287 games. Given that I mostly buy at historical lows the estimate of 1033 € that can be found on the same SteamDB page applies to me.

    3,6 € per game, 49 € per year.

Given the tears, the emotions and the joy I got repeatedly from all those (mostly indie) titles, it's well worth it. Praised be GabeN and all of Valve!

  • Also, considering what else you can do with a powerful PC vs a PS5 Pro, the additional investment is sound. Even just in gaming, modding would make it worth in a short while.

In February 2025, the most played PlayStation 5 games by monthly active users (MAU) were Fortnite, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II/III/Warzone/Black Ops 6, Grand Theft Auto V, EA Sports FC 25, ROBLOX, Minecraft, Rocket League, Marvel Rivals, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, and Monster Hunter Wilds.

You can play all of these and more at PS5 Pro equivalent graphic settings (not that you would notice the difference anyway) with a PC you can easily build for less than the cost of a PS5.

  • This is actually my very favorite kind of reasoning to oppose to conspiracy theorists. I don't use food though, because people rarely think of death as a consequence of tampering with food: I use air travel.

"So you say I shouldn't trust anyone, I see... So you don't fly anywhere?" "What has that anything to do with it?" "Do you realize how many different people are involved in running checks just to keep you alive at any given moment of a flight and even in the airport?"

Usually these people drive everywhere and are borderline against the existence of public transport, so using trains or subway lines doesn't work.

  • My grandfather had a chemistry lab in the San Lorenzo area in Rome and one day due to a heated discussion with his mother-in-law, arrived late for work. As soon as he put the key in the door of the lab, an Allied bomb hit the lab leaving little more than the door he was opening standing.

He survived that day, one of the highest death tolls in Rome in WWII.
