  • Just speculating, but maybe they want to keep their options open for selling one or the other off later. That way, they re-diversify with two series that are different enough to take risks, and get emergency cash if they fail.

  • I am gonna admit that the only reason I watched the trailer was because of the name. I ended up coming out of it excited by the game for it's art direction and proposed game play. I have also played the hell out of DMZ and now am looking for the next best iteration of the formula. I stopped playing single player games a loooooong time ago.

  • For point #1 - good riddance. That kind of porn is super creepy regardless of whether or not it is true CSAM.

For point #2 - I might just be getting old, but I don't have time to wade through a "bearable" feed when I can get all the best posts through someone else's hard work. I am glad to have mods that reflect my approximate values and defederate where reasonable.

I will appreciate when people like you repost/link the rare piece of good content that I miss out on though. I welcome views counter to my own, if well thought out or sanely provocative, but sometimes you gotta filter out trolls and creeps.

I can say that I feel comfortable recommending my instance to people I meet IRL, and that counts for a lot with me.

  • No true Scotsman and Godwin's law, nice. Anyways, BLM is an obvious continuation of the civil rights movement, and calling them "slacktivists" is derisive and reductionist.

Protesting until you die of old age is not what it used to be. The surveillance of the modern world makes protestors into easy targets if they ever become a true threat. The powers that be have learned plenty from the civil rights era.

Nobody should have faith in any nation to erode in the first place. Every single one has fucked over their neighbors and their own populations to further the ambitions of the rich and powerful. Look to the erosion of antitrust and privacy laws to see where we are headed. Look at how SOPA and other protests have gone. You seriously think nobody knows how to protest anymore, and it's just a generational failing? Despite the obvious ways the oppressors have adapted to the modern world?

  • Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter are pretty recent examples of where "showing up in numbers" just wasn't enough. The system is rigged and blaming victims isn't getting us anywhere. Anecdotally throughout my life, I have seen uncountable numbers of people come to work/school/etc. with an "I voted" sticker, and my conspiracy theory is that the numbers are meaningless and the people who rigged the system already decide who is winning before the first vote is cast, unless they abandon the plan because their polling shows an absolute landslide that would reveal their fuckery.

  • The article you are quoting is published by the state-run Turkish media agency, with numbers sourced from the Palestinian Health Ministry. I don't think those are unbiased or trustworthy sources when considering how close they are to the conflict. Meanwhile, there have been over 9000 civilian deaths in Ukraine from the 2022 invasion according to multiple reliable sources, including the UN. Even if your source was reliable, your math is not.

  • Maybe everyone else is seeing something I am not, but what routing path is for internet traffic to "Future PC" and its neighbors? You have the ISP modem labeled as a passthru, which means it is not handling NAT/firewall. What device is binding to the WAN IP address that the passthru will be handing out? An unmanaged switch is not going to do that.

  • When people talk about "washing" produce, they always seem to mean "rinsing" - which is just tap water and no soap. Is this article telling us to actually wash, with soap?

Rinsing removes the outer layers of bio film, which is fine for bacteria that your body can deal with in small amounts, but I assume that is inadequate with a quickly reproducing parasite.

  • And for those who don't know, Yasunori Mitsuda worked himself so relentlessly on the soundtrack that he ended up developing stomach ulcers that required hospitalization. You know the soundtrack is good if the composer would rather be shitting blood than let his work be less than perfect.
