  • As the saying goes, "orbit is halfway to anywhere."

Getting into and out of gravity wells takes far more fuel than moving between planetary bodies. A space elevator that can take cargo from lunar orbit to the surface and back removes one difficulty, while being slightly less sci-fi-ish than a terrestrial elevator.

  • And now Firefox is requiring you to hand over your data to them.

If you're talking about the most recent news about the Terms of Service, that is a gross misreading of what they said.

  • I think you're missing a big factor: money.

When you have enough money, you can pay to not be celibate. The difference between Andrew Tate and the chuds who worship him is Tate has enough money to pay (or forcibly coerce...) women for sex. His crowd doesn't.

  • It is a bullshit poll.

eliminating fraud and waste in government expenditures

If you ask that question, without being extremely specific as to how "fraud" and "waste" are defined, you're going to get mass agreement. Nobody wants their tax dollars misused. But a Dem might say giving subsidies to the oil industry is fraud and waste, while a Republican might say any money spent on non-billionaires is fraud and waste.

  • I really doubt they will.

The thing to note about Framework laptops is the "starting price" is literally just the system board, the screen, standard American keyboard, and the laptop body. You have to add your own RAM, SSD, all the expansion cards, a charger, and a Windows license (if you don't use Linux). There's a reason why the starting cost for a Ryzen 13 is $750 and a "pre-configured" system is $1100.

Sure they'll save some money from using a plastic body instead of an aluminum one, but that's not the bulk of the cost, assuming they're still committed to using the same system board form factor as the 13 & 16. I'd consider it a win if they get a fully configured 12 for sub-$800.

Also Trump's tariffs have to be factored in for US buyers.

  • Well, when Trump was speaking to them about how much he was going to hurt others, they heard that.

But when Trump was talking to the others about how much he was going to hurt them, they didn't hear that.

Trump told everybody what they wanted to hear. None of them heard what he was really saying.

  • AFAIK congress cannot overthrow a president for being unworthy or acting illegally.

Yes it can- this is literally what the impeachment process is. The problem is what happens when you have a political party that is every bit as guilty and refuses to charge or convict an obviously criminal president.
