  • I also don't think it's an excuse, I do however think it's the truth. Put a bunch of people in a club or bar, someone will get kicked out at some point in the night. Now, what if no one can leave that bar without dying of exposure within minutes?

  • Pinesol. Does a great job, smells good. Thats when I mop the whole floor though. For spills and such, usually just dishsoap/vinegar

  • Another commenter mentioned Elite: Dangerous. I have almost 300 hours into this game (rookie numbers for a lot of ED players), and I was still learning brand new mechanics I had no idea were in the game. One of the best experiences I've ever had in a game purely because it let me fail and learn on my own, even after I had lots of experience.

  • The torque issue would be really easy to fix. The beauty of EVs is everything is computer controlled, so it'd be as simple as programming in a "low" mode by making the motors deliver power/torque on a much more gradual curve relative to pedal input (emulating a traditional gearboxes low range gears). The weight might be less of an issue at that point, although it's still going to be a problem no matter how you slice it

  • The Leftovers. Really great premise, the acting and writing is fantastic, etc, only 3 seasons so I didn't have time to get burned out. Watched it a year or so back and I'm already thinking it's time to rewatch

Edit, gotta mention Get Smart. My parents showed it to me when I was young and it has really shaped my sense of humor in a lot of ways. Very wholesome (although some episodes are very much a product of their time).

  • "Security guard" = US Marshall

"13 year old" = person on a crime spree who had a loaded firearm (deadly weapon)

"Steal a car" = steal a car with the US Marshall still inside, most likely while threatening them with previously mentioned firearm.

This person is the one who put the value of a car above a human life. If someone is willing to put a gun in my face for the sake of personal gain, I see no way how defending myself, even with deadly force, would be not justified.

  • Yeah I'm aware they're still in a really early/rough state, I definitely used the term pretty loosely. From what I understand they're capable of reliably texting, calling, light web browsing and maybe playing some audio. If you aren't someone who frequently/extensively uses your phone, and has decent knowledge of Linux, this may be enough for you. Def not the average user though.

  • Righ, just like how three letter agencies definitely don't have zero-day exploits into your devices (until they remeber about that one they definitely did put in)

  • Exactly. It's like saying Linux isn't open source because some distros come with proprietary NVidia drivers.

  • PinePhone

Multiple OS choices, hardware kill switches for connectivity/camera/microphone, expansion pins, etc. Modest specs but for enough functionality to be a daily driver, zero ads or spyware, and infinite customizability, $400 is a steal.

  • Apple literally scans your photo galleries for illegal photos.

Edit, looking into things, it seems like they might have backtracked on this one due to backlash when it was announced.

  • Tbh I've wanted to try one of them for a long time, just never got into the genre. Now that I'm more interested I may pull the trigger, although I'll probably go through Fallout 1/2 first considering they've sat in my library for years😅

  • Lemmino hits 1 and 3, and sometimes 2 (some of his videos are about dark topics, some are more fun or wonderous). His voice is very nice to listen to. Smooth, low, and a relatively thick, but perfectly understandable Danish accent.

To boot, he's one of the best goddamned researchers I've ever seen. For example, he did a documentary on Jack the Ripper. Instead of just going over the same beats everyone else does, this madlad poured over dozens of police reports, newspaper clippings, and eyewitness accounts from the time of the events, (more than 150 years old), and then compared those to more contemporary research to make a more complete study. He somehow put all of this together into the most cohesive description of the events I've ever seen, all with detailed and accurate CGI visuals (nothing graphic, just to show locations and timelines and such).

Really, really dedicated guy with a huge amount of integrity in his work, lots of creative flair, and no annoying biases or wild assumptions.

  • My gal and I will turn to each other and do a silent "goddamn" when we see an attractive person. Very refreshing having come off a couple of very jealous relationships

  • ReVanced still works fine, grayjay also works.

  • I work in the auto industry. Besides the standard 4WD, SUVs have almost nothing going for them compared to a 5 door hatch/station wagon/estate sedan.

I mean, a RAV4 for example, while doing everything it says on the box, and not being an outright bad vehicle, has only marginally more passenger and cargo room than, for example, a Corolla Hatch, while consuming multiple MPG more. Sure, the 4WD contributes to this, but due to the lower weight, better aerodynamics, and smaller engine of a Corolla, it would still be more efficient even if it also had 4WD.
