No you're not, the post was editted. The original one said it was all because of AI, the entire reason for the API change was to sell to AI companies.

Edit2, just to be clear my point is that Reddit content was never free, before and after the API change. It's easier to get the content with a decent API, sure. But it was never free, just like the lawsuit the NY Times started.

Don't get me wrong what Israel is doing is absolutely horrible and should be stopped.

But what I don't really see in the comments is the question (and answer) what should they have done after the horrible attack Hamas did? I don't have the answer myself.

When something similar happend in the States (911) the response was to invade 2 countries and a 20 year long war.

It's funny you say that because there was a 'hack' for chatgpt where you could ask it something like how to build a bomb and it would refuse. But when you added TLDR it would do it.

Is it? Because when you build a bot and just scrape Reddit I don't think you can just use the content to train AI, just like the New York Times. The API change was definitely to sell more ads and get a higher IPO, but I don't think it was because of AI.

It's not even that simple, because paying can be done with money, but you can also send troops, or have troops ready to protect other countries, send equipment, etc.

So it's not that black and white who pays what.

Also I think the biggest think Trump did to NATO for the EU, is that for the first time people actually realized the US isn't always the allie we thought. It really depends on who's president, something before Trump most people never thought about. It also really pushed the point of having an European army and other changes like that.

In the Netherlands you pay a road tax every 3 months. The amount is based on weight (because a heavier car does more damage to a road) but also on eco label. So an electric car that has the best eco label can have less tax than an old (but much lighter) diesel car.

I don't think time doesn't have meaning with a system like the beats system. It's just that the meaning is more personal. For you 600 beats is dinnertime and for me it's the moment the alarm clock wakes me up.

Dinner is still at 600 for you and your entire city or country or state (depending on how big your country is).

But for larger countries it can be that most stores close at 600 but some open earlier and close at 550 or something.

At this moment we have a system that also can be pretty confusing. Like when you have a meeting with people in different timezones. Oh we meet at 14:30? Like our 14:30 or yours? Or when you do stuff with computer systems and 2 servers are in different timezones, it's a nightmare

It would actually make traveling easier, because you will immediately see what time it is for your family at home.

Instead of the hours at a place being the same (like 19:20 is in the evening for everyone), now we keep the time the same but we have different experiences at certain beats.

Bedankt ik denk dat ik je reactie niet goed had begrepen. Blijft natuurlijk wel zo dat beide groepen gewoon de collectieve voorzieningen gebruiken. Zoals ik met die voorbeelden al een beetje aangaf je kunt eigenlijk niets in Nederland zonder collectieve voorzieningen. Zelfs als je denkt ik doe m'n eigen boodschappen (via welke weg komen die boodschappen bij de supermarkt, via welke regels en controles zijn de producten veilig gemaakt, etc).

Ik snap je punt over dat deze mensen ook slachtoffers zijn. Niet de slachtoffers waar je nou heel veel medelijden mee hebt omdat het hele "ding" ook een stukje asocialiteit in zich heeft (ikke ikke ikke en de rest kan stikken). Maar inderdaad het is waarschijnlijk ook domheid.

Ik denk dat er een overlap is met mensen die zich voor veel geld inkopen in een mlm (Multi-level marketing) bedrijf. Die worden door gehaaide verkopers ook gouden bergen voorgehouden, maar zijn uiteindelijk meestal grote verliezers.

Maar houden ze dan ook op met alle voorzieningen gebruiken? Dus geen auto of fiets want de wegen en fietspaden zijn met belastinggeld betaald.

Geen brandweer bellen als je huis in de fik staat, niet je afvalbak buiten zetten, je kinderen niet naar school brengen, niet in de bossen lopen die worden bijgehouden door Staatsbosbeheer, niet het ov pakken want dat is ook met subsidie opgezet, zelfs niet de taxi want die rijden op de wegen die met belastinggeld zijn betaald.

Dit soort mensen willen dus voor niets betalen, maar ze gebruiken wel alles waar de rest aan heeft meebetaalt. Gewoon aso's waar ik weinig medeleven mee heb.

Het hele idee dat het gelijk is aan bol.com zonder dat je wat besteld vind ik ook niet opgaan. Je betaald bijv een zorgverzekering, of je nou wel of geen zorg nodig hebt. Zo werkt het met collectieve voorzieningen. Daarnaast gebruiken ze dus wel degelijk collectieve voorzieningen.
