  • Yikes, kids are dumb lol.

I never grew up around waves, so when my brother and I visited family on the coast and we were playing in the waves, other people wouldn't join us. We were going further and further out. Finally we convinced the guy to join us, and no lie, he said he jokingly said "ok I guess I'll die too". We didn't know what he meant. All three of us got stuck in a mild rip current. I almost drowned trying to swim directly into it. Nobody told me any different. My brother and the other guy were stronger swimmers, they were ok. It all happened very fast. We gave that guy an earful afterwards, he was like "I thought you knew" 🤦‍♂️

  • Didn't rip my hand off, but I definitely fell off one of those things, busted the back of my head open. I kind of.. Fell backwards with my legs wrapped around the saddle, and hit the bottom edge with my head.

    Split open like a mouth.

Rushed to the hospital. 23 stitches and 13 staples to close it up again. I have to have my hair cut a special way to hide the scar. People are always surprised when I show them.

I still rode those things afterwards. Kids were tougher back then lol, had to be 🤷‍♂️

  • Hey hey, awesome! Yeah it's super fun. And if you're good at it (I'm not) it can be super creative!

My buddies and I, and likewise those in this community, try to stick to the standard alphabet arrangement, so we can all read each other's stuff. Though we do dabble in other puzzlery, using basic Elian as a layer of obfuscation.

    Welcome and enjoy!

  • It's more stable. But as I understand, it doesn't come with any proprietary drivers or blobs, so you've got to do an amount of tinkering and configuring to get it running for gaming. Especially if you've got Nvidia GPU.

Whereas with nobara or bazzite, those features are baked in already, by professionals.

You need them either way, so my question is, who do you trust more? Yourself? Or the developers behind the gaming oriented flavors of Fedora?

I went with Bluefin, based on silverblue, based on Fedora. It has all the gaming stuff I need, plus like bazzite, it's immutable (ish), so while it's harder to do some stuff the normal Linux way, it's also significantly more stable, because nothing I do or install ever touches the core operating system files. I can't break anything, and this makes me happy 😁

  • Yeah my buddies all buy the biggest phone capacity they can get, and I barely thought about my last phones 128gb. I had to check my current phones capacity just now, thought it was 256 but I guess it's 512.

I'm using 180 ish, but I could easily be under a hundred again if I deleted a bunch of crap that's built up 🤷‍♂️

I do remember losing a months worth of photos years ago when my SD card died, and my Dropbox had gotten full. That was the day I upgraded my Dropbox. I'm on a yearly subscription, it's due to renew next month, I hope to be on immich by then. Just gotta find time.

  • What filter would you use? I've never played with abs because I didn't want to have to vent an enclosure outside, especially in the winter. But if it could all stay inside that'd be great.

I have a cat. Cat tax:
