  • I think that's totally fine, as much as some might want to turn this into a "Ketchup on Steak" kind of holy war.

I grew up on StoveTop and I do think it's yummy.

My mother in law makes a stuffing that's essentially potatoes, bread, onions, whatever other seasonings, and yes a good bit of salt. (I haven't helped make it I admit, so I could be doing it a disservice to describe it that way)

She even cooks some of it inside the turkey and some of it outside, though it never really gets soggy.

As far as I'm concerned, you could throw out the entire rest of Thanksgiving dinner and just give me a big bowl of that.

  • Who's the guy with Steven Seagal?

  • The Constitution is a framework of government, not a goddamn suicide pact.

This is really a the core of the current problem, I think. We'll never get enough votes for an amendment of any kind IMO. R would vote against an amendment from D saying the sky was blue. So now we're at a place where turning schools into prisons due to all the security measures and similar bandaids are the only things we can do.

  • How hard do you smugly smile typing that, knowing we'll probably never have the votes to amend the constitution ever again for any purpose?

Knowing that, our only hope is to get a supreme court that will interpret it in a way that might let us save some lives.

  • “We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need. That is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion. It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant’s right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self-defense.

I kinda feel there's a false equivalence there. I can't kill arbitrary people as a result of exercising my first and sixth amendment rights.

Doesn't the right of others around you to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness have equal standing? Seems reasonable to me to take steps to ensure you are less likely take away life by accident or malicious intent.

  • You might have had some decent points, but I'm not going to try an adult discussion with anyone who already talks to me like this before the discussion has even begun:

Gun control gud, me vote fast for boom boom pow ban.”

So for my slow friends out there

    Again for my slow friends

  • No problem!

I actually really do like Cheddar in those scenarios sometimes, but I agree with the prior comment that it doesn't melt as nicely. 🙂

  • I think by Good American cheese they meant something more like this:

    https://www.landolakes.com/products/cheese/deli-american/

It is very much a different thing than Kraft Singles, you can get however much or little of it (or various competitors) you want anyplace that has deli meats, and the per-pound cost is not that much more, last I checked.

Although some kinds of cheddar might be made in the US, I don't think Vermont Cheddar is what anyone usually has in mind when they say "Deli American Cheese."

I've had no problem getting a good melt on burgers with "good" American, FWIW.

  • It's almost like protecting children is not actually one of their goals.

  • Just out of curiosity - do you think you need to tag people in order for them to see your replies to them? Because you don't.

  • Well, thinking about loading many christmas trees into and out of suv's and station wagons over the years, I can tell you that it's going to be a lot better in one direction than the other.

  • what will not attacking targets with human shields get you? more human shields.

You know what attacking targets with "human shields" gets you? More dead innocent people. Try not to forget the "human" part of that word.

Edit: Gonna start adding this article to a lot of my replies on this topic. More people should read this and encourage this kind of future. When I figure out what sub it belongs in, I'll post it as a thread there.

  • you deal with that by attacking anyway and demonstrate to the enemy that tactic does not work and will not be tolerated.

And when that doesn't work you do it again
    and again
    and again
    and again
    and again
    ...

Because it's more important to demonstrate that you absolutely will kill innocents who have been put in harm's way in order to show Hamas (and the rest of the world) exactly what your version of justice looks like than it is to try something different.

And we're paying attention, I can promise you that.

  • There is a way to sub to Kbin magazines from Lemmy, unfortunately I don't know what it is.

On the kbin side I can search all "magazines" for keywords and Lemmy communities will come up there, and I can sub that way. I'd assume there's a similar reverse method on the Lemmy side.

If someone more knowledgeable wants to let me know how to format the link in a way that will work for Lemmy folks I'll remember it for the future.

  • My first reaction to that final quoted sentence is "well they are callous with human life, why wouldn't they be with a dog?"

But my second reaction is, "Don't they have to account for every on-duty weapon discharge??" You'd think putting "shot dog" as the reason you fired your weapon would be trackable.
