  • I'm so fucking sick of waiting for Trump to experience even enough consequences to no longer be able to afford a 1% lifestyle. So fucking sick of this back and forth tit for tat bs.

Someone wake me when he's in prison garb, or (the horror) forced to buy a typical suburban home to live in, or is in any way finally made to confront and acknowledge the harm he's done and the awfulness of his own character.

  • “Don’t attribute to malice that which can be sufficiently explained by stupidity.”

  • I'm so fucking tired of people (consciously or unconsciously) expecting women to make the effort, make the sacrifice, to "fix things".

And what would that even look like? Dragging a bunch of men who have voluntarily rolled back their entire worldview to 1940 (or worse) kicking and screaming into some semblance of modern rational thought? How does one do that, and why is it the job of women to do it?

  • I started using Plasma 5 a smidge before devs were saying it was ready for primetime. That was my conversion from Gnome (which I was very happy to leave by then) and it's been nothing but positive.

I will wait for the full release of Plasma 6, but I'm super excited for it. I still lt;3 Plasma 5.

    Thank you KDE devs!

  • I'm not even a woman, nor am I dating, nor do I go out of my way to read articles about "women's issues" etc, and have run across multiple articles like the WaPo article in the last year or two. Women would be very justified to consider the drumbeat of microaggressions pushed by those articles as bullying. I think Salon nails it.

It's OK though, we can agree to disagree.

  • Been a few years since I did a Debian install, but IMO it's fairly daunting for a noob unless it's changed a lot. I found Arch easier to install (this is not me suggesting you use Arch, just making a comparison - I currently don't use Arch btw.)

I would disagree with the prior poster urging you to use Debian testing/unstable partially because saying it like that as they did implies they are the same, which they are not.

Suggest if you stick with Debian (which is a fine and foundational distro, I'm just not sure it's a good choice for a noob - but again haven't touched vanilla debian in years), you read this page first (and the page for each of the branches) to decide which release to use. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases

  • Citing data showing that Democratic voters generally refuse to date Trump voters, the Post editors argue that people should be more willing to date across party lines, and learn to appreciate "alternative perspectives that may at first seem odd or offensive."

You've got major media outlets (the post article was only the most recent) telling women essentially that they owe it to the country to fuck and marry these assholes. How is that not bullying of a sort?

  • Still, many continue to spend more and save less.

That's what happens when literally everything costs more than it used to.

  • The should find out what is used for the foil seal on top of International Delight. That shit is insane.

  • She's the marketing officer for a right-wing competitor to Scholastic. I am doubtful she has a porn addiction in the first place, and I'm 100% sure it wasn't "sparked" by Scholastic books for kids. And if it was, I submit her problem is different than she thinks it is.

  • Although that's a great and nuanced view, I don't think you have to go that deep. Any indication at all that these "Christians" have love in their hearts for anyone who isn't just like them? Do these "Christian" lawmakers support feeding the poor or helping those less fortunate? Do they support affordable healthcare for their fellow children of God? Do they support programs to help underprivileged mothers care for the children that their Christian/Republican policies force to carry their babies to term? Do they support any measure whatsoever that leads to helping people and not putting profits first?

    No, no, and no.

  • Like every single Republican who professes to be a "Christian."

  • As a happily married man in my 50s who isn't dating anyone, if I found myself single again I would drag my penis across broken glass before I'd date a Trump supporter. I would be celibate for the rest of my life and live alone in a shack if the other option was to be involved with a Trump supporter.

If my wife had gone maga, I'd have gone full intervention. I'm a big believer in letting people be themselves, but there are lines that shall not be crossed.

  • Not sure if that person was me, but reposting a recent comment I made to that effect anyhow. The estimate and the word "epidemic" both originate from a DOJ report of all things.

    https://www.criminallegalnews.org/news/2018/jun/16/doj-police-shooting-family-dogs-has-become-epidemic/

I believe the DOJ report is linked somewhere in that article, if not I'll dig it up if requested.

Cops in this country kill so many dogs each year that a specialist at the Department of Justice’s (“DOJ”) community-oriented program services office says it has become an “epidemic.” The DOJ estimates that around 25 to 30 dogs are killed by cops every day, with some numbers as high as 10,000 per year. The totals could, in fact, be higher, since most police agencies do not formally track officer-involved shootings involving animals.

  • They have Heretic!!

Now if they can just get Rise of the Triad...

  • Has he stopped giving coy non-answers when directly asked if he'd vote for Trump again yet?

(Not that Christie would have my vote in any case.)
