  • Countries can do a lot of things. You're discussing something that didn't happen though.

According to the article, we sanctioned Venezuela, and they ignored those sanctions to purchase and smuggle a plane from the US.

The sanctions themselves are a separate discussion, but I think a reasonable person could expect some form of consequence. To be clear, I'm not defending the sanctions. I haven't spent enough time reading about them to form an opinion.

  • You may know more about this than I do, but this seems incorrect. The crypto industry relies on trading commodities. If they wanted a digital currency, would they not lobby for a central bank digital currency?

  • I've always been confused by VISAs that disallow application for permanent residence. This seems like a bad faith gesture on the government's part. You're setting folks up for failure because life happens.

What if we allow individuals to apply for residence regardless of VISA type and incentivize abandoning the opportunity by returning a security deposit of sorts?

  • Agreed. A lot of money has been spent on crafting agenda and shaping public and party opinions. Although malicious, Project 2025 seems carefully considered. I assume the wealthy investors bankrolling the project have considered Trump's mortality as well.

  • Agreed. What about an inflation adjusted campaign budget for each elected position? I believe this system is already used in some countries.

I feel like this would promote a focus on policies/platforms and encourage good faith campaigning.
