I just wish we had STAR voting so additional candidates wouldn't increase the risk of Trump winning the election. So many people are either blind to the present danger or they spread misinformation because they hate the US.

Military leaders have warned against a second presidency, emphasizing Trump's chaotic and irrational behavior. He has expressed his love for authoritarian leaders and has turned to promoting Christian nationalism.

History disagrees with your opinion. A large part of the population does not vote in any election, and far right citizens are committed to making their voice heard in every one. When left-wing voters withhold their votes, the Overton window naturally shifts right.
Electors are generally bound to the local popular vote. Candidates can absolutely win the election without winning the popular vote overall though.
