  • I dunno I had a girlfriend who was 34-36 when I was 21-23 and it wasn't weird or anything, still friends many years later even though we have our own families now. She got carded buying alcohol more than me so it's not like it was obvious though.

  • A solid 6" soft 3.5" and contact with the rim is a problem, it really shouldn't be at this size I feel. Also I often sit to pee at home cause I got my comfy seat and classy toilet space (Crohn's things). It's those super flat restaurant toilets where my balls might come close to the water but I don't think they've ever touched thank god.

  • I mean I would only accept the FOSS option for my balls (or lack thereof), but yeah I want like a diabetes insulin pump but for balls. Could add a bunch of quirks and features in there too like a hardening protective mesh and RGB. Why stop there just go full tech-penis.

  • I thought they were implying something misogynist about women's ability to plan and how the women's plan will be considered only if the man's fails first. Maybe that's the way to get sex ed to where it's needed though, "the first anti-woke birth control, putting the control back where it should be." Wouldn't be surprised in today's America. /s

  • Would be cool to have a remote control device that mechanically opens/closes the tubes, built-in security layer for ensuring only you can unlock it, auto-lock, etc. If the tech-bro venture capitalists weren't weirdos about spreading their genes around maybe this would be a thing.

  • I guess with my knowledge of energy markets, a situation like that would result in higher prices just by the way the market functions, responding to supply and demand. The graph here appears to be a market clearing price rather than a price after adjustments, where a lot of incentives would be brought in like an intentional price hike.

We were in the opposite situation though where we were running into surplus overnight during a period of energy transition. You'd see these stupid misinformed articles being like, "the government is giving away YOUR electricity to the US!" Was like during the 2003 blackout where we needed to bring large loads online carefully alongside generation, people were freaking out how casinos and industry got power before them. The need for dispatchable loads connected to the high voltage transmission grid in that situation wasn't as headline worthy.

  • I work with a lot of American vendors from Canada and we recently all said congrats and goodbye to a project manager on the vendor side who was taking her mat leave. When I came back from vacation I was surprised to see her in the weekly meeting... she had less mat leave than I have vacation.

  • Wouldn't there be a price cap in events that the wholesale market has anomalies like this? That's standard in most jurisdictions. The wholesale price is still "real" because there's some system or market condition reflected in this spike, it's just not normal for ratepayers at the distribution level to not have a price cap protection. It's like the opposite scenario if the price isn't high enough to cover the cost in actually delivering the energy and running the grid, so a Global Adjustment would come in to effect to cover the difference. There can even be surplus conditions where the price is in the negative.

    1. George Lucas mentions Vietnam as an influence
    2. Fascism is clearly represented as well
    3. Star Wars is not a politically consistent universe or critique
    4. It's a typical story arc where the antagonist is an amalgamation of things that were considered bad at the time
    5. It's Star Wars so I ultimately don't care that much
  • That was one thing I could never do when I was an "urban explorer" (fancy term for trespassing in to municipal water infrastructure), manholes always freaked me out so much my friends couldn't even peer pressure me.

  • I think with Disney and a lot of companies now it's more obvious that they are consciously trying to "look good" vs Star Trek was a lot more genuine and authentic with it's intention to include these things, and it was challenging status quo back then whereas today it's very mainstream (which is a good thing). This is also what I think is (sometimes intentionally) misinterpreted with the "woke" concerns from the right, cause criticizing the company for morally branding themselves can be legit, but only if the actual idea of including and respecting people isn't lumped in with it. A legit issue with these huge companies that exploit workers is how they commodify their visibly "diverse" employees and claim the virtue for themselves rather than all the effort it took from workers to actually be treated with dignity. Amazon may very well be welcoming and inclusive but they're gonna fight their diverse employees when they want better conditions and pay. DEI doesn't erase the inherent conflict between employers and employees.
