Yeah that checks out. I constantly have to chase down drivers when doing Windows installs. The way I read your upper comment was the issue being with the recovery partition.

That would be an OEM issue, not Microsoft. They're supposed to modify the recovery image with whatever it needs, Windows doesn't just do it automatically.
What distros don't come with that? I'm running Debian and I get a notification on the desktop when I have updates available and it takes two clicks from that point to get them installed.

Dunno but I remember trying WebDAV back in the day when my webhost offered it as an alternative to FTP and I remember it not working very well for that.
