I'll probably be more involved and would even be willing to chip in with a small subscription. That or registered users may also keep a lot of the trolls away.
I loved this snippet. "Three times as many unique visitors in July visited the websites for The Old Farmer’s Almanac and the Denver Gazette, Similarweb estimates show".
They can't come quick enough for me.
I can go to work after a night out without fear I might still be over the limit. I won't have to drive my wife everywhere. Old people will not be prisoners in their own homes. No more nobheads driving about with exhausts that sound like a shoot out with the cops. No more aresholes speeding about and cutting you up. No more hit and runs. Traffic accident numbers falling through the floor. In fact it could even get to a point where the only accidents are the fault of pedestrians/cyclists not looking where they are going.
The Fish era was magnificent. But losing such a dynamic and powerful front man means a band will have to change. Steve Hogarth took them to a new levels, which for me ended with Brave. After that? I kept with them for a while - fronting the money for albums and with a couple of thousand others have my name in the Marbles sleeve notes etc. I buy the albums but they don't get more than one or two listens - they've become a sort of Crowded House tribute band.
Fish on his own? Cracking when doing Marillion stuff (still think he's one of the best frontmen going) but his own material is just meh. Vigil was a good album. He needs Rothery and Kelly.
On the other hand, Genesis lost a lot of die hard prog fans when Peter Gabriel left - but gained a hell of a lot more MOR/US fans. Unfortunately Ray Wilson couldn't fit into some very large frontman shoes. And Peter went from strength to strength.
How many died because they were on a waiting list though? Don't get me wrong, any waiting list is one too many but this headline seems like clickbait to trigger people.
And no, I didn't read the article because the URL didn't work :-(
I know these are there - I said so in my post. It does not work when others are on FB and will/can not leave for another platform. None of that is comparable to to FB for group chat, looking for people, swapping pics etc. People may not want their phone number given out (a bit ironic when FB has everything else I know).
It's so easy (and dare I say lazy?) to just say 'FB bad, use phone/Signal/email etc.' but not offer any real alternatives. Let's face it, FB has this covered. It's so simple to get your nan, mate to join because all their friends/relatives/workmates are on it. There's no shame in admitting that it provides a valuable service for some people.
