It's true Brazil's electrical infrastructure is good, but we just don't know how it is going to scale to the needs of electric cars. Charging stations have a very peculiar load. It's both variable, and very strong at the same time. That's not something grids built for a constant load can simply adapt to.
BYD is taking over the space Ford used for their factory, not far from where I live. I have to say, this is an interesting development, and should, in time, hopefully bring even more jobs than the 5000 they've already announced.
The Brazilian market also seems fairly welcoming of Chinese auto makers, as Cherry sells quite a bit here. I don't think they will face much brand discrimination. Though of course, there are always those who only buy European, or Japanese.
The one thing that worries me is the electrical infrastructure. Major cities will have decent charging infrastructure fairly quickly, I imagine, but Brazil is big. And by big, I mean fucking huge. And I fear it won't be able to support a majority electric traffic for a very, very long time.
On the upside, the vast majority of Brazil's electric production is non carbon producing. And I don't see that changing, even as demand climbs and we produce more electricity.
I can't stand the smell of pickles and vinagre anymore. I worked in a pickle factory for two months when I was in uni, and I smelled of vinagre 24/7. I also had some sort of alergic reaction where a billion pimples popped out on my face, and it wasn't a good time.
The jalapeño production line was especially bad, as the hot vinagre dropping on the jalapeños releases this very strong smell that quite literally felt like it scratched and cut your throat as you breathed in.
Pay was good though, so I powered through those two months. I dont really eat pickles anymore.
I wish nomadic identities were a thing. It's a concept I found out about recently, where you could have one Fediverse account for all services, and just login to whatever you want with that preexisting account. Sort of what you describe as a Single Sign-On approach.
What I think is cool about this way of doing things, is that you could host an ActivityPub server, and login to any instance, even if it's not your own. For example, I could login to lemmy.world or mstdn.social with my sopuli.xyz account. Or at least that's what I understood.
It would probably get me to use the rest of the fediverse, tbh. Right now I only use Lemmy.
This took a turn.
