  • Edmonton has a ton of crosswalks across 60kph roads, with flashing lights that indicate drivers must slow down to 35kph (and obviously stop if there's a pedestrian in the cross walk).

The problem is a lot of cyclists don't bother to hit the button, then just keep barreling straight on through.

  • Yes, but we've also seen governments get really stupid with blanket product regulations.

Warning: California Proposition 65. This post can expose you to chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

  • $135 for Internet and $80 for mobile is criminal. I pay $130/month for internet, but that's for high speed fiber, because I work from home as a software engineer. I also only pay $35/month for mobile after switching to Virgin because Telus' prices are insane.

I miss living in California and paying $20/month for Google Fi.

  • For what?

Uppal, the 41-year-old killed Thursday, was well-known to police as a higher-up in the Edmonton gang and drug scene, Derksen said. Court documents show that at the time of his death, Uppal was facing charges for cocaine possession and trafficking, as well as illegal possession of body armour. He was set to go to trial in April 2024. He'd previously been charged with assault with a weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm, but the proceedings were stayed in February. In 2013, he was sentenced to 15 months in jail on a different unauthorized firearm possession charge

The person responsible for putting a child in the way of a bullet was already killed at the scene.

  • I've done that, in an apartment with a Behmor. Great coffee, but man what a hassle.

Now I have a subscription to a local place and the coffee's always roasted within 3 days of delivery.

  • Nobody questioned why Joseph Brant would adopt a mixed-blooded person (or why a Mohawk warrior would have a thick Scottish accent for that matter).

No one? Really? I'm always amazed how accurate our history of the 1800's is that we can without a doubt make statements like this.

  • To clarify, people who love coffee buy fresh roasted beans and grind it themselves for brewing for the best possible flavor.

Buying a kilo of any pre-ground coffee and slapping it into a drip machine is not something people who love coffee would typically do.

  • So... optional then?

But, that's already a thing? VCA has a treatment plan you pay into monthly, and animal health insurance exists that's way more that $1k/year and varies based on stuff like existing conditions and the age of your pet.

I don't expect the municipalities that collect the $1000 to magically make it stretch further.
