EDIT: I guess I hadn't looked for more webcomic communities in a while and there are more available now which have people actually posting OC to instead of just reposting from elsewhere with no discussion. I'll leave my original comment below regardless.
I'm of mixed opinion about this. I only subscribe to one bot-led community (!comics@lemmit.online) and whilst I hate that every comic is just reposted from Reddit by the bot and so has no comments or discussion, it seems that no comic creators are posting to Lemmy yet and so I would rather still be able to see the content they are creating than miss it entirely. I understand that both the community and the bot are hosted on lemmit.online so they won't be affected by the bot policy of lemm.ee but it still speaks to the problem of lack of content posted to Lemmy in general (at least in certain communities).
As long as you are on version 1.0.96 or higher, you should have an option in the settings to turn off volume key comment navigation that should fix your issue.
I forgot to mention in my previous post that there seems to be a bug in this release where you cant open any links in the inbuilt browser (webview). Comments on post work fine but the browser never seems to load anything.
You can customize the swipe actions in the latest beta (1.0.98). However this version has a bug where you cant view posts (you can still view comments though) so maybe wait a day until the next update is released.
This is included in the latest beta (1.0.98). However, it seems that opening links is broken in this version (can view comments of posts but actually opening the post itself just brings up webview which doesn't load) so maybe wait until a bugfix is released.
Updated and volume buttons are back to controlling volume as they should be! Tested on the homepage and working fine. I tested in a thread with a ton of comments as well and at first the volume buttons were navigating between comments as they had been so I decided to check the settings where I was able to disable this setting (and then the settings auto-saved so that is also working!). I personally hadn't noticed the issue in the last fix for comment creation not always including the post but I'll keep an eye out in case it crops up in this version of the app. Thanks @kuro_neko@lemmy.ca for the quick fixes!
I would certainly characterize myself as a tech-enthusiast rather than from a technical background. I have a Chemistry degree and work in a tangentially related field (Brewing industry) though mainly on the sales/retail side rather than production. I don't code but it's certainly something I am interested in. I've set up a Pi-hole on my home network and have a small Plex-Server streaming downloaded media (as I try in vain to disentangle myself from the myriad of streaming services that exist).
Yeah from the article it seems the "senator" is a reference to Bernie Sanders.
A more accurate title would read as follows:
Fran Drescher the SAG-AFTRA president and Bernie Sanders the "fiery Senator" discuss 'fight against corporate greed' and Bob Iger amid actors' and writers' strikes.
It's easier to notice in a thread with more comments, but it seems that using the up/down volume keys is "scrolling" the active comment and bringing up the comment navigation bar for the active comment.
