  • Are you saying capitalists and engineers are one in the same? Maybe sometimes, but it's not capital that makes things, it's labor.

  • What in the hell is capitalist hardware? Does my computer own a factory?

  • This comes from an evangelical comic explaining what they think communism is. I used to have it somewhere.

I remember it makes a ton of mistakes, like it shows Marx in a university classroom with Hegel as the professor, even though Hegel had been dead for over 10 years by that point. It also claims Engels was just some dumbass hanging onto Marx out of feelings of insecurity. Like there's a panel where Engels is explaining how Marx was talking about the withering away of the state concept. A woman asks Engels to elaborate, but he can't because he realizes he doesn't fully understand the concept. Which is rich, because it's the reverse in reality. Engels is the one who came up with the idea of the state withering away and Marx incorporated it.

It also depicts Marx's contemporaries as trying to save Marx's soul by getting him back into Christianity, which is also rich because Marx's best friend in college was Bruno Bauer. That's the guy who wanted to make all religion illegal, yet in the comic Bauer's depicted as like a concerned friend in an evangelical Kevin Sorbo movie.

if you take the comic seriously you'd believe we promote Marxism-Satanism (I do)

  • There's the Oculus stattion in NYC which is ok, but I hate the building it's connected to. It's one of only a handful of nice stations though. Half of the NYC metro looks like Silent Hill.

  • Yeah I know that. It's a shame which is why we have to change it. We're out here building a better future.

  • "Death to America" is like our version of "and peace be with you." It's a nice phrase to say at the end of every statement.

  • Yeah, I'm an angry ball of rage because I live in a white supremacist hellscape where everyone is too smug or too tired to care. I don't have any thoughts remaining other than the word fuck. The pretense of being thoughtful is a facade. My true self wants to roll in mud and scream obscenities at anyone I think looks too wealthy.

  • Yeah I believe even that should change. Everything should change to incorporate fewer or no cars, including small towns.

  • Yeah I just don't see it. If we want to reduce oil/gas use then the goal would be eliminating private car use altogether and providing alternatives. EVs are still a huge machine designed to transport a single person. They're still a waste, not to mention how much the global south is getting exploited for their lithium.

Cars just aren't going to save anything. Here, I'll compromise. Electric bicycles.

  • EVs aren't a solution to anything except as a way to trick people into thinking purchasing a car is saving the environment or helping fix society.

If liberals are so shallow that they adopt racism because someone was mean to them online, then I'm glad they're being more honest. The message is that cars, all cars, are something worth fighting against. Electric cars are not a step in the right direction, they're not even a bandaid. They're just something liberals can purchase to make them feel like they're helping something. They're toys.

Honestly I would rather if most liberals outright come out as conservative, because it sounds like they're on the line already. It would be more honest of them.

  • yeah, now I remember. They said something like we'd push a certain ideology and that's unacceptable for some reason. Yeah, we're the only ideological ones

  • Edit: I just realized this was blahaj, not beehaw. I can't keep none of this stuff straight.

That was lemmy.world. Beehaw was federated for a while but then if I remember right kept saying we're not actually trans/gay friendly because we're too tankie. Then they kept insulting one of our admins, who is a trans woman herself. Like they'd say we're faking how queer we are. Then it turns out they have a really bad chaser problem and a bunch of our trans posters kept getting death threats or weird stalkers from over there. Also they're so anti-tankie they occasionally swerve into outright saying reactionary stuff. They also like saying slurs.

There was an attempt at damage control, then I think we decided to cut them off. Do I have all of that right? I really have problems remembering my Hexbearian lore, I'm sorry. We need a Bible

  • Oh yeah, that should be clear. CIA networks aren't all professional spies or agents, the networks are often built up of traitors or local capitalists who have influence. The CIA is also not above fermenting sectarianism within enemy countries.

I'm gonna guess a lot of people don't even know they're informants. The feds probably use aliases and shell companies to contact people through labyrinths of fake identities. I hear a lot of spies are also just normal diplomats and have official identification as a diplomat at an embassy.

  • Ehh, I think CIA in China would be up to speed on Chinese Marxist terminology. Because I'm imagining most embedded agents are either going to be 1) acting as diplomats or diplomatic staff or 2) native born Chinese people who received an education in China.

I believe most of the agents in 2010-12 were found out due to a huge security breach in Iran, then Iran shared the names of agents to Russia and China.

You also reminded me of that one Isaac Asimov short story, "No Refuge Could Save" where an American identifies a German spy because he actually knows too much. The spy knows the third verse to the Star-spangled banner, which no actual American would ever know. It would only be learned by a spy trained on every possible nugget of American culture.

  • China routed a network of over a hundred CIA spies/informants in the course of about two years, between 2010 and 2012. A dozen of them got killed or went missing, something like 20 of them are still in jail. The rest got kicked out or fled.

It's really funny how quickly and efficiently China did it too. Fuck the CIA.

  • I remember reading somewhere that one of those lost CIA agents was shot point blank in the head in full view of their colleagues by some kind of Chinese security officer. In broad daylight in the courtyard of a government building. China killed around a dozen CIA staff between 2010 and 2012.

All know to say is thanks China. Hope you eighty-six more CIA rats.

  • Climate change is killing people currently. It's not some far off distant event outside of our lifetimes. It's already happening and causing worldwide problems. We already passed the crossroads. Every year is hotter than the last, every year breaks records in terms of storm severity. This impacts people in poor, underdeveloped nations the most.

A possible extinction event isn't the only thing we need to worry about. The other problems of climate change are already here.

  • This wouldn't work for me at all because thinking about Israeli/American treatment of Palestine infuriates me. Then thinking about Palestine makes me think of Yemen, which makes me think of the Iraq War, and then I'm just in a spiral of hatred and gritting my teeth. I'd be walking around with balled up fists and my neighbor pleasantly says hello, I'd whip around with "Fuck your hello, krakkker colonizer first worlder"

and being in that mindset permanently would be a good way to get myself shot.

  • it depends on what I'm getting mad at. For instance, I don't tend to argue/yell/confront people in real life. I only get mad at people if it's online. In real life if I can look into someone's eyes I'll feel different about it. If it's some racist person or someone being annoying, I look in their eyes and often see a little kid trying to rile people up, so I just feel sad. Or sometimes I'll see nothing in their eyes. If someone is pure evil, I just don't sense their soul anymore, so getting emotionally invested in them is like throwing a bucket of water into a black hole. Anger at them would go nowhere. I dismiss people like that, acknowledge what they are, and tell them to stop doing whatever they're doing. Don't say racist or transphobic or whatever stuff around me, simple as that, you know? usually being direct works the best. I have a 100% success rate so far, because people like that do get embarrassed easily if they're in public, trying to confide something bigoted with me, then I'm not having it.

Anger at situations though? I don't deal with that in a healthy way at all. I turn all of it into self-hatred. I blame myself for every problem I have. If there's a way out of doing that, I'd love to know, because this sucks.
