  • people buy a new phone often enough nowadays that battery wear is not as much of an issue

battery wear is part of the reason people trash their otherwise working phones. People buying phones more often is a symptom of not having right to repair.

Also, buying an extra battery and charger meant you could carry a fully charged battery in your pocket and if you were out hiking or something, you could just swap batteries instead of needing a power bank and a whole bunch of charging time.

  • I don't know. If I balance the phone on my pinky, with the index finger on top and ring- and middle finger behind, it sits very solidly. My thumb is then free to tap the shutter button.

  • That's true, but I find it just as difficult to access those features onehanded in vertical orientation, so I either do those twohanded before shooting, or I struggle about as much to reach them in either orientation.

  • I've used Startpage for a year or more on my main computer and it works okay.

But if anyone has any tips for a search engine that actually supports queries with boolean logic and such, I'd be all for it. Lately they all seem to just not do that anymore.

I vastly prefer a search engine in the EU, that respects the privacy laws here.

  • Someone said in another comment that 440 ml is the default multipack can for the UK and that can plus contents add up to 1 lb that way. I don't know if this is true. I could see US beer imported via UK being a thing though.

Edit: And if you mean whether I would expect 470 ml over 500 ml, then no. 500 ml is very much the European standard can.

  • I didn't know console games had subscription costs in ways the PC equivalents don't. I'm a PC gamer myself, and wouldn't buy a console precisely because it's a unitasker. But the one task it does do well is couch gaming with a controller, and that's not how I'd use a PC. Fair, if that's someone's thing, but I would just think a console was better for that usecase.

  • If you only play that particular game with a controller, sure. My point was that if you're a controller player, I'd think you'd have a better time on a console, since they and their games are made for it. Mouse and keyboard controls with key remapping are the biggest reason I play on PC.
