  • A lot less clean now that a toddler is also living there.

    But, aside from toys being scattered everywhere, baseline is that: all the dirty dishes are in the dishwasher every night, toilets are cleaned at least once every 2 weeks and definitely before we have guests, throws and pillows are reset daily, bed is made every morning and sheets changed at least every 2 weeks, Clothes coming out of the wash might end up not being folded and put away for a couple days but they don’t pile up, everything in the fridge is edible, grass is cut weekly in the summer.

    I am more tidy than my wife, but she is better at taking care of long-term projects where she will hire somebody and get it done, even if it’s not perfect.

  • The talking points I’m picking up are:

    • this isn’t a real war, we were in and out with precision munitions, and our people are back safe, everyone should praise them for being so awesome;
    • Iran has been a bully for decades, and somebody needs to punch the bully in the mouth, when that happens everyone stands back and is happy the bully got punched in the mouth;
    • this isn’t a new war, Iran has been at war with us and our allies for a long time via their proxy groups
    • Biden was never able to take care of business, now Trump is in and it’s taken care of, and only the Americans could’ve done it because of our awesome military technology.
  • that doesn’t connect the dots. The de minimis update was purportedly to the UPS driver software. Sounds like the implication is that the connection between the UPS and the driver was used to backdoor the systems. Which device exactly was supposed to have received the Starlink DTC connection?

  • Hot water tanks do not just “get cold”; they are fantastically well insulated. And a great way to lower peak energy usage by accumulating heating power, making it possible to use a heat pump to heat the water.

  • The amount of water is the same. It’s the volume held by the pipes between the water heater and your bathroom. that’s the same amount of water, whether it comes out of the bathtub or the showerhead, at a high or low rate of flow.

  • I don’t know, there are progressive capitalist countries which do pretty well, especially in Europe. And there are nominally communist countries which have the highest number of new coal plants and poorest environmental records on the planet.

    saying “capitalism“ certainly does make people check out because that’s an irresolvable “problem”, compared to “See if you can start eating vegetarian one day a week and beef no more than once every two weeks”
