  • I like them both a lot but mlem doesn't seem to have a way to show larger images in the feed, unless I'm missing something. The issue with this is that there are a lot of image posts that I wouldn't have otherwise opened because I can't see what the image is clearly.

  • Sometimes I miss that though. I remember seeing a tweet a while back that said something to the effect of "twitter is boring until the unemployed people wake up at noon and start their shit". Unfortunately, it looks like everyone on mastodon is a normal employed adult, which isn't as fun.

  • Well that's subjective, but I see your point, there are definitely much higher quality products out there. But if you grew up with some of their products, there is the nostalgia factor, plus if you can't afford the higher quality products, you are still going to buy nestle products. You could say they have us by the balls.

  • Yeah that was uncalled for my bad, and I do understand what you mean about Europe. But while the US is helping Europe, it's actively fucking the rest of us over, with European countries' help. So that's great for you, but being pro-NATO can only be seen as extremely selfish at best.

  • My country is a military dictatorship right now at least in part because the US supported the overthrow of the democratically elected leader.

And just to be clear, I'm not comparing who is "worse". I understand that a genocide kind of takes the cake there if you really want to have a pissing contest about it. But the OP above you said that they were "pro-NATO", which in my book means they're a shit person.

  • No different from a tankie then. They also have excuses for their preferred governments' atrocities. If you think "dictators and autocrats" are the only evil that exist in the world, I have some bad news for you.

  • While I never really loved twitter, I do think at one time it was useful to many, so it's a setback that it's being gutted. But at this point I think it's best that it's put out of its misery and replaced with mastodon. People need to get on a system that can't be bought by a billionaire and ruined.

  • Depending on where you live, it might be nice to see a lot more of what's around you on a bike. It's similar to OP's idea of getting lost in the flow of a competitive sport. You get lost looking at all the places that pass you by. You can take random routes each time and learn the city around you pretty well. It doesn't hurt to have your headphones in and listen to an audiobook while you're doing this either.

I never really got into running because it's so much slower than biking. You will see a fraction of what you see on a bike, so I think it probably gets boring quicker. Plus it puts more strain on your joints.
