  • I feel like I've gone through some similar experiences and observations as you, as the church I grew up in was nothing like these politically indoctrination camps masquerading as churches. We didn't talk politics; we talked about using the guidance in that collection of texts to help each other in life's struggles and to avoid hurting each other. I think you did an excellent write-up about what that looks like, for outsiders who only see the made for TV "churches" and might think that's what it all is. I'm glad you took the time to share all that for the people who will read it.

There were definitely plenty of people, even in our quaint little congregation, who took it all literally, though. I've reflected on what I got out of that chapter in my life, and while I think it probably influenced me for the better, I still have some regrets sometimes and still feel like the people that stayed behind in that world are stuck in an echo chamber where they'll probably blissfully never think past whatever cherry-picked interpretation of it suits their world view. Sometimes I'm inclined to defend the actual message of Christianity from the political indoctrination camps, but my ambivalence usually makes me just leave it alone.

  • Also, I'm told this wasn't a school shooting.

  • Mine is easy enough to turn down the water to keep a smaller flow to maintain comfort and water temperature while soaping, so I do that.

  • Mine used to do this with roaches. Not even kidding.

  • Source code escrow is a thing, too. I've only seen it in the context of (as I understood it) protection against going out of business, but perhaps it could apply to discontinued products, as well?

  • I feel so sorry for the kids that get abused by dumbass families with this. They're truly stuck with morons who should be extinct.

“My grand daughter does not get to spend very much time online so we have paid over 300$ for a little history pamphlet,” a woman named “Renee Y” wrote in January on the Better Business Bureau website.

“Our terms and conditions clearly state that the customer would continue to receive shipments monthly that would be charged to the credit or debit card that we have on file,” eSpired responded, before agreeing to process “a refund for charges in the last 90 days.”

  • This one, including all text from the justices (including dissents) is over a hundred pages. That's doable for many people, though not all, and it should be important enough to prioritize for those who can. But I think this one falls into the category of sticking my head up a bull's ass while most people will just see what the butcher has to say.

  • I could've sworn Lemmy added a "upvote multiple times" feature, but I can't find it.

  • One down, one to go. Who Will it be?

  • Oh, that Fremont. Like, troll bridge Fremont, not old Vegas Fremont.

  • In 2017, the US government banned Kaspersky on government systems, if that's what you're thinking of. This new ban sounds to me like the recent TikTok ban, where it would affect the US population at-large and not just government systems.

  • I think you're going to lose a few people with that first number being off by a decimal place, but the substance of what you said is still relevant and gives insight about the Lemmy experience right now.

  • Could have little tiny proto shrew cheese curds.

  • I hope this doesn't just dissolve into hand-waving and general dismissal based on "he said / she said". Someone call the bluff and let's see the cards face-up.

  • Infinity has a subscription concierge service.

I don't know how to apply or what qualifications they're looking for, but it sounds like it could be a good gig for computer-savvy telework.

  • Part of it, too, is selective breeding (aka genetic modification, but that's a dirty word).

Edit: I may be misinformed. I thought selective breeding was technically considered GM, but it sounds like only editing outside of breeding might be what qualifies. Didn't mean to make this post about technicalities, just meant to point out that genetics has also played a part in arguably more palatable plants.

  • Combine that with the stupid piped-in engine noise (through the sound system) and you can make anyone feel right at home in last century's technology.
