There's no economical incentive to join the fediverse for large corporations - at least not yet. I think it'll take another 5 years before that happens.

The !boycottusa@lemmy.ca and !buyeuropea@feddit.uk movements would have to become mainstream first, because let's be honest, the fediverse is the actual contender to US social media. Although, right now it's really fediverse vs bluesky. Once someone creates a reddit clone on top of bluesky, then the fediverse will lose that battle, because people are uncomfortable with choice.

@geerlingguy@mastodon.social needs to sync his content. It shouldn't cost him much (if anything). If he has viewers willing to watch him on peertube, but they simply can't and they are forced to watch him on youtube. You can't build viewers on peertube by waiting for others or not uploading it to it.

That's basically the case for everbody on youtube going "but there's nobody on peertube". Yeah, it'll probably stay that way if you don't upload to peertube. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I never understood pinterest. I think a different interface for https://mastodon.art/ should get you most of the way there. Maybe @curator@mastodon.art has a suggestion.

I'm not from LATM, but same. I've been telling people for years that the US is not a net positive force in the world and people hold up whatever gadget they have and go "but they made this". Yeah, on the backs of a bunch of poor people that you'll never see nor care about, but because they're not white, it doesn't matter to you.
